  • We have LOTS of deer, squirrels, and birds in our area, so I've been very close to them (although I'm not sure if it's considered the wild if it's in the suburbs). I have had a tarantula crawl right next to me when I was gardening (EEEK is not too strong a word!), had to chase an opossum and her babies out of our backyard, and had to chase a woodrat that one of our cats brought indoors back out of the house. That's all I can think of at the moment...

Their eyesight isn't good but smell is great..luckily -- no wind and I survived !
  • a bear....it bit off my right foot.
  • A bear in my front yard. After he knocked over the trash can I went out to see what was making noise outside and he climbed the tree beside my shed. Also, last fall I was driving up my road and a baby doe ran into the side of my car and knocked itself out cold. My husband, son and I got it to its feet and walked it around until it could walk straight again. Then we sent it off into the woods with its mother, who stood in the woods off the road and waited for her baby. And again, my husband and I were sitting on his mother's back porch, years ago and a skunk walked up and brushed his back on our feet which were hanging off the porch. It was pretty cool.
