If I put a splash of milk in my cake batter instead of 1/4 cup like the recipe calls for I could end up with a very flat or very dry cake.

I do hobby electronics ; many numbers involved. For example I just looked a rechargeable battery. It is rated at 3.6 volts, but measuring 2.046. Typical battery use, says a battery is to low when it's under 80 percent. So I had to calculate 80/100 times 3.6 to discover the battery needs a recharge.
