Absolutely. Pretty soon the middle class will have nothing left to give up.

yes

I've always known that. Particularly since I was harassed by the F.B.I. under the Bu$h administration.

And so is a much smaller government. The two are unrelated: a very lightweight government could still, if it chose, take all you have. The important point is not the size of the government, it is the control of that government. Whoever controls the army has, in the final analysis, ultimate power, regardless of what else they do or don't do. So it is the quality or your representatives you need to worry about.

that's always been the case...

Yes I do. +4

I have heard that before. I do not think The United States Government would be able to take everything you have. There would be riots in the streets. They cannot even get health care passed without hostility. +5

Of course.

It's always been that way.

No. I do not. It is a fancy dancy saying with cutely nifty words that are meaningless. Happy Sunday! :)

You better believe I believe that and is why I vote in every election they allow me to so I can prevent them from taking any more than they are already getting and as a matter of fact I am not stopping till I get a good chunk back dammit!
-
As long as the military stands behind the government they have always been strong enough to take everything you have, the deal is though that they wont. Because if they tried alot of the military would turn against them.

I had a teacher in high school that used to say that all the time, Mrs. Guy. "A government that can give it all, can take it all" is how she worded it. I never truly understood it until I was older though.
-
Yes, and it's happening now.

Because of the fact that Jefferson said this and other things that today might attract the attention of law enforcement leads me to believe that our attitude toward government should be one like the one seen in the town halls this summer. In their face. I think it makes a lot of sense to listen to some of the thoughts of the men that started this whole thing to get some insight on how they thought it should work.

There has always been that potential ... sad but true.
