9-4-2017 I think you underestimate the power of belief. Belief is so strong that most people would not even think to question it. Does a culture need money? Just to ask the question can cause a riot, because people can not stand their belief to be challenged, not even gently. Was there really something called "holocaust"? To ask that question is a felony crime in many countries, and a social crime even in this one. Why did American colonies need a central government when they had done so well without one for over a century and a half? The other answers here plainly indicate that people only question things that don't really matter to them.
