Good question to ask your pediatrician.

he or she has a fever that is for sure, yes i would take the little one to a doctor, you cant be too careful when they are this young.
-
you used a rectal thermometer on an infant, why not the oral kind? the anus and mouth are hot anyway so you should take off a couple of degrees and consult your doctor. could easily be a viral infection but best check it out.

did he eat anything spicy the night before??? i know sometimes my rectal temp goes up quite a bit after a night of taco bell-ing

Take the child to the hospital if it gets any higher.

I think your little girl/boy is burning up. Don't take any chances. I am not a doctor. I would advise, however, that you get her/him to a doctor right away. I am sure this does not need to be said, however, I will say it anyway. Whatever you do, please do NOT EVER give your little girl/boy aspirin. +5

High enough you should call pediatrician

If it was my kid I would be concerned. :-)

Rectal temperature generally runs 1 degree higher than oral, which would equate an oral temperature of 101.6. The upper range of normal for a two year old is about 99.5 oral or 100.5 rectally. The 102.6 would indicate the need for antipyretic administration (ie. Tylenol Motrin etc.) Personally, I'd give my 2 yr old a proper dose of Tylenol and recheck the temperature in 40 minutes. Make sure you keep the thermometer in for 5 minutes in order to obtain an accurate rectal temp.

yes, i would take your 2 yr old to the er

Ummm. Yeah. How about asking a doctor instead of social media.
