  • He did that? LOL! No I think you should call it like you see it....and I am not an Obama supporter.
  • Nope, he's right, Kayne West is a Jackass plain and simple. Obama just said what the rest of us were thinking. A spade is a spade and a jackass is a jackass. +5
  • Nope, he said what most people were thinking or saying.
  • Yes, but Obama's approval rate should rise with this bit of candor unless he attempts to explain it in more gentle words to appease his supporters.
  • Well, the shoe seems to fit.
  • NO; the Pres told the TRUTH ... Can't fault him for speaking the facts as Kayne IS an inconsideriate JACKASS .... +5
  • No. He was a jackass.
  • I'm not an Obama's supporter but I truely believe that that guy deserves the title. That guy has some serious ego problem.
  • Although he didn't want the public to hear it, I think he should have left that part out because Kanye was a jackass and everybody knows it. He called it like it is.
  • I need proof of this. Why would Obama give a rat's ass what happened at the VMA's?
  • No i think all that fame has gone to his head.
  • No way man - He was exercising his freedom of speech hahaha - Kanye West can call Obama a jackass if he wants, the president needs rights, too Haha I think people need to lighten up on presidents and realize they are normal people just like us who happen to have more powerful jobs ;)
  • It's about the only thing the President's said that I agree with. :)
  • He was actually being nice. The truth is..it would take Kanye three promotions to become a jackass. What an ego-maniac. Just plain annoying. He's like a turd that won't flush.
  • Well, he said it off the record. At least it was supposed to be. Either way, it's fine because I find the description to be fitting. Kanye West is filled with unwarranted self-importance.
  • What?! He called Kanye a Jackass?! Was it on air?! If it was on air, than ofcourse it's inappropriate! (Kanye was way more than a Jackass that night btw)
  • Of course not. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and most everyone has the same as Obama.
  • he was 'redeeming' himself after all he has to look like a do gooder so its almost as fake as the incident makes ya wonder if it was all a set up ,,
  • The real 'Jackass' here can but only be Kanye West!
  • Nope, Kanye is a jackass. I wonder if he's going to say that Obama doesn't care about black people now lol
  • Yes, the poor girl looked crushed.
  • I wish more politicians would call it like they see it!
  • No. Obama is a person with opinions. At least he didn't bomb and torture West.
  • Heck no
  • President Obama was bushwacked on this one But the truth came out this rapper just tried to make a name for himself and out of his own mouth he convicted himself I admire Obama for at least calling Kanye West something of a *jackass* as that is what he is in the end Taylor Swift got a big apology form Beyonce~~that was real class and West showed zero class
  • I think anyone can call that * anything they like. President Obama said it off air. Maybe he will learn that anything he says that is heard by anyone will make the news.
  • He didn't 'respond' in the normal sense. He was overheard in a private conversion, and some unscrupulous people decided to report it online. If your Presidents are not allowed to speak like normal people once is a while without people waiting in the wings to broadcast everything they regard as an indiscretion, then your country is in a pretty sorry state. And from what I hear, he was absolutely right.
  • Don't get me wrong, it wasn't inappropriate per se, and the man is both entitled to his opinion and free to express it. But a standing president's comment, however negative, on hip-hop artists and talk-show hosts does a lot more to diminish the president than the pop icons.
  • no!... good on him for telling it like it is and jackass is very tame ... wanker is more fitting
  • Not at all! He was shooting the shit before the interview. This may be the only time that he and I agree on something.
  • actually, i think it was the most honest thing i've heard him say EVER
  • That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.
  • Nope. He was just calling it as he saw it.
  • I would find it inappropriate if the man weren't a jackass, but he IS. The President might be well advised, though, to keep SOME personal opinions to himself or share them within the privacy of his home.
  • i think the big mouth was the inappropriate one....the pot stirrer, but thats what they are good at and thrive on....personally , i think everyone thought West a 'jackass' , himself included....a president has to be careful of voicing his personal, off camera, views...walls have ears, especially in his circumstances..... next , will be , IS OBAMA A RACIST ?God Help Us... and by the way, Carter, another pot stirring, idiot ,jackass.....needs prayers too...
  • First of all, what he said is what most people seem to be thinking after yet another Kanye outburst at another awards show (this being one of his worst ones, however). BUT, what Obama said was off camera and off the record. The inappropriate one is the reporter who felt the need to make public what was said in private...no matter how true it was!
  • If that's his opinion he is entitled to it! Free Speech Rocks!
  • Since it was off the record, I see no problem with it. But respect for the office works both ways. You don't talk like that as President.
  • Not only do I not think it was inappropriate, I agree with the president on the fact that Kanye West is a Jackass :P
  • He is the president, but he is still allowed to act human
  • Wait... so we should always support the president no matter what he says and he should not be held accountable for his words? What if the president (any president, not just Obama) appeared on television and said that all black people should be killed, or you are no longer allowed to have free speech, or you need to have a license to have children, or anything else of a questionable nature. Would you support him then? EDIT: The question changed. In response to the new question I say that Kanye West is a jackass and it's fine with me that Obama called him such.
  • He's got as much freedom of speech as anyone else. He's also as responsible for what he says, so if it's slander or liable he may have to pay some consequences. But, to be fair - the guy's got a lot more mikes on him and under immense scrutiny all the time. He shouldn't be judged for an unguarded moment. +5
  • no...the person who rushed his 'off the record comment' went over the line.......that was just personal conversation ...should of never been made public....he just needs to be more careful as he is surrounded by scavengers, media and drama seekers.... his comment was probably right on cue with most all America towards Kayne's stupidity...:) support him? no one is really taking it serious enough to require it ...
  • I agree that the President, but also everyone, should be able to say what he wants. I do not think he went over the line. Just because he was elected president doesn't mean his opinion isn't worth anything. Will he take some heat for it, of course, because everyone should be able to say what they want. I disagree completely though with the last part of your question regarding we should support him. I did vote for the guy, but that was before I recognized the futility, in its entirety, of it. I am against war, yet we are at war. It's unfair that less than half the population is employed and essentially supporting the larger half. There are solutions to today's problems, but Obama doesn't even come close to them. Therefore, I do not support him, nor will I ever support another politician, again.
  • He didn't cross the line. He didn't go far enough. Kanye West is a belligerent jackass who should not be glorified in the media. People like Kanye West should be the subject of mockery and disdain.
  • No because its a fact that Kanye West is a jackass. Also, the statement was off the record.
  • Nope. That comment was suppose to be off the record anyway. If the person working wouldn't have tweeted his comment we wouldn't be talking about it right now.
  • No, Kanye West IS a jackass.
  • no.thats obamas opinion. i just think this whole kenya thing is retarded because he was just stating his opinion about the situation. he thought beyonce should have won...big deal. he was just stating his opinion
  • I don't think it was inappropriate because that's Obama's frank opinion and he has the right to voice his opinion like anyone else in this free country. +5
  • hey - you call 'em like you see 'em right? A jackass is a jackass! Kanye- love your work - hate your personality!
  • actually omne of the few things he has done I agree with
  • I would never try to squash anyone's freedom of speech. If the President feels that way, he is allowed to express it.
  • Even though Kanye West is a jackass; I do think it was inappropriate because the president should be setting a higher standard and being a good example as a role model.
  • He's human. He is allowed his opinion
  • It was a spur of the moment comment and showed down to Earth good sense. So, inappropriate to (or beneath) Presidential decorum or not I bet the comment gained Obama some public hearts and minds points.
  • a) Obama said that *OFF RECORD* (it leaked) b) Who cares? Can we please just stop talking about it? Kanye is getting exactly what he wants - people talking about him. Let's not stroke his ego, shall we?
  • I think the President was being kind.
  • I think the President was actually too kind in his assessment of that jerk.
  • no. i think its pretty great. Presidents are people too, they aren't gods ya kno. they have opinions.
  • I say he should be able to say whatever he wants, but we don't have to support him. Having said that, I think people in the public eye have to endure a lot more faked public outrage than anyone else. If you are offended, say so, but don't make a mountain out of a molehill.
  • no. in fact i beleieve that is the most truthfull thing that he has said in recent memory. west is a jackass at least.
  • I think Kanye was being an ass. I just have never seen anyone rudely interrupt like Kanye did on an award show! I can't imagine how Taylor felt at that moment.
  • Who is Kanye???
  • Yes, and more so because it annoys the trolls who downrate pro-Obama answers and questions!
  • Yes!!!
  • Very much so
  • hell yeah,! he was a big ass.! Taylor is awesome, Kayne had no right to do that.!
  • I wish someone would stand up and interrupt Obama and call him a jackass. But yes Kanye is a jackass, it was rude and inappropriate to do that to Taylor.
  • Heck yes I do. Go Obama!!
  • No, Kanye west is an ass.
  • i call him worse and don't think twice, screw me +5
  • Yes, I agree with him
  • yes if you behave badly what do you expect.
  • Had she'd been black, I don't doubt that would NOT have happened. You don't get any more "whiter" than Taylor Swift. He's an ass and does this repeatedly.
  • What did he say that isn't true? Kanye West IS a jackass.
  • Takes one to know one.
  • It's nice to see a Black President insult another Black Celebrity. Sure would be nice if more Black Celebrities took the risk of damaging their careers by speaking out and insulting their fraud of a President without fearing the risk.
  • Yes I do. You just don't do that sort of thing. A lot of people these days, especially young people, don't have any sense of "propriety" anymore. It's like asking a stranger "Are you a virgin?" What Kanye did was despicable.
  • Well it does seem fitting -.-
  • Hell Yes!!! Kanye West is a moron!!
  • Absolutely, everybody is entitled to their opinions and the president is no exception.
  • No, but Obama shouldn't be worrying about a little tiff between two musicians. I'm pretty sure he has bigger things to be concerned over.
  • Yes 100%
  • I didn't really see what happened. I don't watch any of those shows, but I don't need to. I know this guy to be more than a jackass. He's arrogant, he's an ass, he's a total idiot, a moron, egocentric, egotistic, a big bubble-headed. And I just wonder why? He hasn't invented anything, he hasn't created anything, he's not the author of anything artistically significant. He's just a f****ng recipient of an entertainment business handout, with no real concept of what art is. F**K HIM!!
  • I think he was being a Jackass... and i do believe thatSwifts video was better than Beyonce... Again it is a matter of taste.....
  • He should've called him a gay fish
  • not really inappropiate. he was trying to be warm and friendly with the young people he was with. (my assumption.) You gotta give the president some slack. its the cool thing to chew on anyone who makes a fool of themselves in public. kanye west should be fined. or black balled from the next event. kanye was driving drunk and a danger to himself and to others. well, walking and talking drunk.
  • Yes. Who is he the President or a tv critic. I felt the same when Roseanne was criticized for her singing before the ball game. Why didn't Obama call out Williams? +5
  • I think it was really bad to call him a jackass he should have cvalled him a piece of shit or an arsehole
  • No, although it was very cruel comparing the Noble Ass to that stupid pile of predigested pig slop kanye west. there is nothing inappropriate about saying something derogatory about a mean and stupid person in a private conversation. heck, i would have clapped if he gave a press conference to publicly berate that fool for his embarrassingly stupid behavior. is kanye west a racist or just mentally challenged?
  • Yes, I do! I think the prez was far too POLITE!!!!
  • I guess it takes one to know one?!?
  • Certainly appropriate!
  • Taylor Swift is gorgeous and talented. Kanye is an idiot and I am glad he was aksed what his mom would have thought of his behavior. I hope he never sings another note, what a moron!
  • Maybe its not what is expected of a President... but as he was spot on, I think it was highly appropriate.
