  • Ooh, I hope it wouldn't be the same thing, lol! NO, THANKS! ;-D
  • Hi, there will be no injustice, disappointment or jealousy in Paradise. If she has more good deeds than him, she will be at a higher level and will get whatever she wants therein. First thing's first. We need to focus on beneficial things. Instead of asking such questions, we should be praying we get there. Just because someone is a Muslim doesn't automatically send him/her There. If someone wages Jihad for his country, tribe, fame rather than for Allah's sake, he won't get ANY virgin. He'll be punished instead. People need to understand things in perspective, without taking anything out of context.
  • She gets to wear her burqa and continue to have her rights repressed and be treated as mere chattel even in eternal paradise. Sorry, you have to be a man to enjoy it here. What a load of Mullarkey.

  • Well, the next question is, if sex outside of marriage is forbidden in Islam, hmmm, none of it makes sense to me!
  • I have looked on a number of Muslim sites, but they are quiet about the exact destiny of women. The best answers seems to be : 1)In Paradise everyone (men and women) will live happily 2) women who are married are reunited with their husbands (who have their houris as well as their wives and good looking young boy servants-gilham. The wives of men in the Upper Heaven go straight to them. The men in the Lower Heaven have to go and fetch their wives. 3) women do not get to enjoy polygamy in heaven because that is the will of Allah. 4)Unmarried women, it seems, get to be married to someone in heaven: Muhammad said, “An inmate of Paradise will have 500 Hurs, 4,000 unmarried women and 8,000 widowed women. Each of them will keep embracing him for the duration of his whole worldly life.” But, at least, they will be happy.
  • To be one of the 72
  • Here is an interesting article, which questions philologically, the promise of 72 virgins to each Muslim male: Since September 11, news stories have repeated the story of suicide bombers and their heavenly rewards, and equally Muslim scholars and Western apologists of Islam have repeated that suicide is forbidden in Islam. Suicide (qatlu nafsi-hi) is not referred to in the Koran but is indeed forbidden in the Traditions (Hadith in Arabic), which are the collected sayings and doings attributed to the Prophet and traced back to him through a series of putatively trustworthy witnesses. They include what was done in his presence that he did not forbid, and even the authoritative sayings and doings of his companions. But the Hamas spokesman correctly uses the word martyr (shahid) and not suicide bomber, since those who blow themselves up almost daily in Israel and those who died on September 11 were dying in the noblest of all causes, Jihad, which is an incumbent religious duty, established in the Koran and in the Traditions as a divine institution, and enjoined for the purpose of advancing Islam. While suicide is forbidden, martyrdom is everywhere praised, welcomed, and urged: "By the Being in Whose Hand is my life, I love that I should be killed in the way of Allah; then I should be brought back to life and be killed again in His way..."; "The Prophet said, 'Nobody who enters Paradise will ever like to return to this world even if he were offered everything, except the martyr who will desire to return to this world and be killed 10 times for the sake of the great honour that has been bestowed upon him'." [Sahih Muslim, chapters 781, 782, The Merit of Jihad and the Merit of Martyrdom.] What of the rewards in paradise? The Islamic paradise is described in great sensual detail in the Koran and the Traditions; for instance, Koran sura 56 verses 12 -40 ; sura 55 verses 54-56 ; sura 76 verses 12-22. I shall quote the celebrated Penguin translation by NJ Dawood of sura 56 verses 12- 39: "They shall recline on jewelled couches face to face, and there shall wait on them immortal youths with bowls and ewers and a cup of purest wine (that will neither pain their heads nor take away their reason); with fruits of their own choice and flesh of fowls that they relish. And theirs shall be the dark-eyed houris, chaste as hidden pearls: a guerdon for their deeds... We created the houris and made them virgins, loving companions for those on the right hand..." One should note that most translations, even those by Muslims themselves such as A Yusuf Ali, and the British Muslim Marmaduke Pickthall, translate the Arabic (plural) word Abkarun as virgins, as do well-known lexicons such the one by John Penrice. I emphasise this fact since many pudic and embarrassed Muslims claim there has been a mistranslation, that "virgins" should be replaced by "angels". In sura 55 verses 72-74, Dawood translates the Arabic word " hur " as "virgins", and the context makes clear that virgin is the appropriate translation: "Dark-eyed virgins sheltered in their tents (which of your Lord's blessings would you deny?) whom neither man nor jinnee will have touched before." The word hur occurs four times in the Koran and is usually translated as a "maiden with dark eyes". Two points need to be noted. First, there is no mention anywhere in the Koran of the actual number of virgins available in paradise, and second, the dark-eyed damsels are available for all Muslims, not just martyrs. It is in the Islamic Traditions that we find the 72 virgins in heaven specified: in a Hadith (Islamic Tradition) collected by Al-Tirmidhi (died 892 CE [common era*]) in the Book of Sunan (volume IV, chapters on The Features of Paradise as described by the Messenger of Allah [Prophet Muhammad], chapter 21, About the Smallest Reward for the People of Paradise, (Hadith 2687). The same hadith is also quoted by Ibn Kathir (died 1373 CE ) in his Koranic commentary (Tafsir) of Surah Al-Rahman (55), verse 72: "The Prophet Muhammad was heard saying: 'The smallest reward for the people of paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine, and ruby, as wide as the distance from Al-Jabiyyah [a Damascus suburb] to Sana'a [Yemen]'." Modern apologists of Islam try to downplay the evident materialism and sexual implications of such descriptions, but, as the Encyclopaedia of Islam says, even orthodox Muslim theologians such as al Ghazali (died 1111 CE) and Al-Ash'ari (died 935 CE) have "admitted sensual pleasures into paradise". The sensual pleasures are graphically elaborated by Al-Suyuti (died 1505 ), Koranic commentator and polymath. He wrote: "Each time we sleep with a houri we find her virgin. Besides, the penis of the Elected never softens. The erection is eternal; the sensation that you feel each time you make love is utterly delicious and out of this world and were you to experience it in this world you would faint. Each chosen one [ie Muslim] will marry seventy [sic] houris, besides the women he married on earth, and all will have appetising vaginas." One of the reasons Nietzsche hated Christianity was that it "made something unclean out of sexuality", whereas Islam, many would argue, was sex-positive. One cannot imagine any of the Church fathers writing ecstatically of heavenly sex as al-Suyuti did, with the possible exception of St Augustine before his conversion. But surely to call Islam sex-positive is to insult all Muslim women, for sex is seen entirely from the male point of view; women's sexuality is admitted but seen as something to be feared, repressed, and a work of the devil. Scholars have long pointed out that these images are clearly drawn pictures and must have been inspired by the art of painting. Muhammad, or whoever is responsible for the descriptions, may well have seen Christian miniatures or mosaics representing the gardens of paradise and has interpreted the figures of angels rather literally as those of young men and young women. A further textual influence on the imagery found in the Koran is the work of Ephrem the Syrian [306-373 CE], Hymns on Paradise, written in Syriac, an Aramaic dialect and the language of Eastern Christianity, and a Semitic language closely related to Hebrew and Arabic. This naturally leads to the most fascinating book ever written on the language of the Koran, and if proved to be correct in its main thesis, probably the most important book ever written on the Koran. Christoph Luxenberg's book, Die Syro-Aramaische Lesart des Koran, available only in German, came out just over a year ago, but has already had an enthusiastic reception, particularly among those scholars with a knowledge of several Semitic languages at Princeton, Yale, Berlin, Potsdam, Erlangen, Aix-en-Provence, and the Oriental Institute in Beirut. Luxenberg tries to show that many obscurities of the Koran disappear if we read certain words as being Syriac and not Arabic. We cannot go into the technical details of his methodology but it allows Luxenberg, to the probable horror of all Muslim males dreaming of sexual bliss in the Muslim hereafter, to conjure away the wide-eyed houris promised to the faithful in suras XLIV.54; LII.20, LV.72, and LVI.22. Luxenberg 's new analysis, leaning on the Hymns of Ephrem the Syrian, yields "white raisins" of "crystal clarity" rather than doe-eyed, and ever willing virgins - the houris. Luxenberg claims that the context makes it clear that it is food and drink that is being offerred, and not unsullied maidens or houris. In Syriac, the word hur is a feminine plural adjective meaning white, with the word "raisin" understood implicitly. Similarly, the immortal, pearl-like ephebes or youths of suras such as LXXVI.19 are really a misreading of a Syriac expression meaning chilled raisins (or drinks) that the just will have the pleasure of tasting in contrast to the boiling drinks promised the unfaithful and damned. As Luxenberg's work has only recently been published we must await its scholarly assessment before we can pass any judgements. But if his analysis is correct then suicide bombers, or rather prospective martyrs, would do well to abandon their culture of death, and instead concentrate on getting laid 72 times in this world, unless of course they would really prefer chilled or white raisins, according to their taste, in the next. · Common era is an alternative to Christian era as a method of historical dating http://www.guardian.co.uk/religion/Story/0,2763,631357,00.html#article_continue You might like to look up information on Luxenberg on Wikipedia and in this article: http://chiesa.espresso.repubblica.it/dettaglio.jsp?id=7025&eng=y
  • Worth bearing in mind 1 The 72 is not mentioned in the HQ. I don't think any number is. 2 It is accepted usage to say 'man' when we mean 'person' 3 'virgins' does not define sex so perhaps women too could have virgin men. 4 The delights of paradise are supposed to be what no eye has seen nor ear heard, meaning perhaps that the words used are the best descrption the earthly vocabulary will allow.
  • From what I've heard from a Muslium woman - weither or not it's true, I don't know - it's 72 (male, I assume) virgins. If that's true or not, who knows?
  • If not a virgin at the time of death ,her hymen grows back.

  • To scrub the floor and cook for the man.
  • Well it depends on if she is a virgin or not. If she is not a virgin she gets to clean up the mess.
  • She gets to be one of the 72 virgins... :-)
  • (NOTE: capitals does NOT mean I am shouting, they are used to emphasise a word so it is not misread) Though I am not sure, here is what I understand. God has given humans the urge (and pleasure) of sex in this life so that humans keep reproducing and so that the human race does not die out. In heaven, NO NEW humans are to be born (all humans have been born, lived, died and been judged). This means, sex is no longer needed (and so, the urge for sex will no longer exist). The men will receive the virgins not for sex, but as servants. Women will receive something similar, but this has not been mentioned in the koran (as humans would propably not understand i.e. they wont be male - men are not the best of carers, and they need to be better carers than women) Sorry for the messy explanation.

  • It does not say in the Qu'ran that the virgins are to be used for sex. That is in YOUR head. They are servants.
  • first of all, dying for Allah swt must be done properly according to Islam .... but this is another topic ... just to let you know that Islam forbids killing of innocent people (muslims and nonmuslims alike) the 72 virgins is not the point as much as going to heaven and enjoying dwelling there and the desires and wants of a practicing faithful muslim men are not necessarily the same as the desires and wants of a practicing faithful muslim woman the muslim woman will be much much more beautiful than the virgins in the eyes of Allah (swt) and her husband ... because of her Islam and her humanity; virgins are not humans; virgins are another creature that were preordained to give enjoyment to men in paradise; they are more like animals (i mean in destiny and not in nature) on earth being preordained to serve humans and fulfill their needs you will never find a faithful muslim woman desiring 72 virgin men to "ride" her in paradise, nor on this earth. it is against her instincts and her desires which are derived from her belief and faithfulness in God, Islam, and her husband.
  • As a Muslim I will tell you that there are many people out there that find haddiths largly a distraction from the religion of Islam. The Quran itself NEVER contradicts itself but you will find haddiths correct the Quran and most of what it stands for. As with Chrristianity you see that severl hundred years after the life of the Prophet people have had time to play a sort of "telephone game" as children do and pass a message along sometimes with the desire to corrupt, sometimes with COMPLETE fabrication, and other times are well meaning but simply are not educated. There are plenty of Muslims out there that blindly accept whatever a "haddith" says and accept it based on a chain of narration. Anyone can say HE SAID SHE SAID. So many of the things that Islam came to correct such as social injustice and base/corrupt desire are REALLY played into by haddiths. God only know what is and is not authentic, but trust me when I say there are millions and millions world over who feel that text which things such as "72 virgins" derive is likely from man more than God. Its Amazing that original texts of every Prophet have been lost and only the Quran remains in the same language, same text since completion and yet people decided a few hundred years later to add their text to the OUTSIDE of this religion in the form of Haddith. You will find it IRONIC and LOGICAL to know that the Prophet is documented as BANNING anyone writing down anything he said or did that was not the QURAN itself because tha mixing (and adjusting) of what Prophets said/did in the past was the means to corrupting their original message. Its about as easy to group a Mormon with a Jehovas witness and a Catholic as is it to group Muslims into one belief. Not even Christianity can agree on Jesus's death or if he was God or a Prophet. Sadly Islam has become divided and its in everything OUTSIDE the Quran, its in matters like "72 Virgins."
  • One day they are all going to get it- AIDS
  • Women are not allowed to fight physically in Islam. Though they are able to speak about Islam. Jihad is not just fighting for Allah. Here's a link that might help:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jihad Jihad (Arabic: جهاد‎ IPA: [ʤɪhæːd]), an Islamic term, is a religious duty of Muslims. In Arabic, Jihad means "strive" or "struggle". Jihad appears frequently in the Qur'an and common usage as the idiomatic expression "striving in the way of Allah (al-jihad fi sabil Allah)".[1][2] A person engaged in jihad is called a mujahid, the plural is mujahideen. A minority among the Sunni scholars sometimes refer to this duty as the sixth pillar of Islam, though it occupies no such official status.[3] In Twelver Shi'a Islam, however, Jihad is one of the 11 Practices of the Religion. According to scholar John Esposito, Jihad requires Muslims to "struggle in the way of God" or "to struggle to improve one's self and/or society."[3][4] Jihad is directed against Satan's inducements, aspects of one's own self, or against a visible enemy.[1][5] The four major categories of jihad that are recognized are Jihad against one's own self (Jihad al-Nafs), Jihad of the tongue (Jihad al-lisan), Jihad of the hand (Jihad al-yad), and Jihad of the sword (Jihad as-sayf).[5] Islamic jurisprudence focuses on regulating the conditions and practice of Jihad as-sayf, the only form of warfare permissible under Islamic law, and thus the term Jihad is usually used in fiqh manuals in reference to military combat.[6][5]
  • She gets rid of that stinking husband! (LOL...just kidding.)
  • She would be one of the seventy-two, she gets lubed.
  • I did reread your post on the 8th at 9:58...what I saw was you asking bora to justify the passage I linked without answering definitively what bora asked. You might see your post as an answer, but we do not.
  • A cynic might say that Muslim women do not go to Heaven and they get Hellfire. After all, if each man already has 72 women, he would not bneed any more. Therefore Muslim women may well alll go to Hell. Of coarse, this answer is chauvinst and sexist, but then so is Islam.
  • women get shot in Islam for asking that question, fact is it shows a lust that is only "natural" of mslim men. For a woman to openly ask this question, it would show she had sexual urges and desires for others than her husband....she would be killed..a muslim woman might think to ask this question, but would never dare..she knows she would be kiled
  • She gets to be not quite as useless to Muslim men as she was prior to killing herself.
  • A set of steak knives?! ;-)
  • they get nothing cuz as i said before islam is for guys only.
  • The life insurance money?
  • http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/10053 Among the blessings that Allaah has prepared for His slaves are al-hoor al-‘iyn. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “So (it will be). And We shall marry them to Hoor (fair females) with wide lovely eyes” [al-Dhukhaan 44:54] “They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Hoor (fair females) with wide lovely eyes [al-Toor 52:20] Al-hoor al-‘iyn are extremely beautiful, such that the marrow of their shins will be visible from beneath their garments. Every man who enters Paradise will have two wives from among al-hoor al-‘iyn. Allaah says, describing them (interpretation of the meaning): “Therein (Gardens) will be Khayraatun‑Hisaan [fair (wives) good and beautiful]; Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny? Hoor (beautiful, fair females) guarded in pavilions; Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny? With whom no man or jinni has had Tamth [opening their hymens with sexual intercourse] before them. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinn and men) deny? Reclining on green cushions and rich beautiful mattresses.” [al-Rahmaan 55:70-76] “And (there will be) Hoor (fair females) with wide lovely eyes (as wives for Al-Muttaqoon – the pious). Like unto preserved pearls” [al-Waaqi’ah 56:22-23] And for the women.......... http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/96619 Shaykh ‘Abd al-Rahmaan al-Sa’di (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Houris (beautiful, fair females) restrained in pavilions” [al-Rahmaan 55:72] means: kept in tents of pearl, always ready for their husbands. That does not mean that they do not go out in the gardens of Paradise, as the daughters of kings and others like them, such as girls kept in seclusion and those who are very shy usually do. Tafseer al-Sa’di (p. 831). He also (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The general meaning of that includes al-hoor al-‘iyn and the women of this world. This description – being virgins – applies to them in all cases, just as their being “loving (their husbands only), equal in age” [al-Waaqi’ah 56:37] applies to them in all cases. Tafseer al-Sa’di (p. 833).
  • a ticket number(between 1 and 72)
  • If she's still a virgin she will get a matyr... together with 71 other virgins.
  • More to the point, what did the virgins do to get stuck with this sweaty dude with jet fuel fumes in his beard?

  • Beaten for even thinking of the question.
  • She gets 72 virgins too. But... well, 72 male virgins are not exactly cream of the crop.
  • you get nothing ... you just get bummed by the bloke that just died for allah!
  • The verse in which it is stated has been translated incorrectly as it is that ""The least [reward] for the person of Heaven is 80,000 servants and 72 virgins, over which stands a dome of pearls, aquamarine and ruby." The people believe it is "The least [reward] for the men of Heaven is 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome of pearls, aquamarine and ruby." So if a man goes to heaven he get 72 virgin women but if a women goes to heaven she gets 72 virgin men. But the rest of the reward remains same
  • There is no such thing as virgins in heaven, be it one or 72. The word usually translated as 'virgin' is 'hoor/hoori' actually means 'intelligent companion' and both men and women will be getting them.
  • Men don't get 72 virgins.
  • A new, improved, pop-proof hymen.
  • Yes, thats true. A man will get 70 virgins and 2 from this world getting the number to 72. The women will not get anything like that as Allah did not created man and woman at par. Man was created first in the name of Adam and woman was create for man in the name of Eve. So, though both are equal in terms of rights but no in terms of marriage. In Islam, A man has permission to marry more then one women at a time, if at all he can afford and can maintain equlity among all. If he fails to keep the equality, he will be a sinner. A woman is not permitted to have more then one husband at a time. You can see from your own knowledge that woman is not equal to man physicaly or mentaly.

  • Anonymous: I made up my own heaven, or what I'd like it to be. I was blown away with your statement that everyone will be 33. My idea was that everyone will be 33 and they could converse as to life at that age, therefore, understand each other. Mostly relatives. But even babies who died (aborted or not).
  • Everyone who is doing wrong here is podosh... and should not be one... Think about it
  • Relief from living in a hot black personal tent, from dry-rape without foreplay by cousins, from being used as an in-breeding shaghole, from aching weak bones, etc.
  • Christopher Hitchens says that the statement is a mistranslation. It should really say "pure white raisins. What do women get? Screwed of course! Islam is not a woman friendly religion. Of course, neither is Judaism or Christianity.
  • women can become one of the 72 virgins.
  • 36 Virgins. They [virgins] come in both sexes! (Ana a woman inherits half as her brother, according to the Shariah Law)
  • WOMAN IS A MAN WITH WOM ..THAT ONLY GOES FOR EARTLY LIFE WHEN MEN/WOMEN DIES HIS/HER SOUL DEPARTES FROM HE/HER BODY ,THE BODY GET BURIED AND DECOMPOSES THE SOUL IS NEITHER A MAN OR A WOMEN AND NEVER DIES
