  • A long time. Bones or parts of them stay around for many years, even a century or more depending on the conditions. If you are in a coffin, that has to wear through first. The rest of the body will decay very quickly, its the bones that take the time. I would say 250-500 years to be sure of being turned to dust if you are buried. An exmaple, I know someone who found a human skull in some sand and it was dated to 1700's and only the jaw and nose filaments were missing, the rest looked pretty intact for being underground 300 years plus!
