I do not believe that being gay is a sin. As a bi-sexual woman, am I biased? No, I am not. Before I discovered my own bi-sexuality, I still, firmly, believed that homosexuality is something that nobody should be made to feel ashamed of. And to the people that think that gay people "choose" to be gay, I ask: Why would anyone choose a life of being socially judged, not accepted for who they are, and denied the right to a legally binding marriage (amongst countless other things)? To fear going out in public and holding hands with their lover because chances are they will be called "fag", or "dyke", or otherwise harrassed, even in some cases, bashed, or killed. Having hatred in your heart for your fellow man, based solely on their sexual preference, and condemning them for it, now that, truly, is a sin.

  • A lot of religions base their growth on passed tradition. The children of a christian family will probably be christians and so forth. Historically organised religions have always aprouved of large famillies with lot of children (easy convert). While not the entire base of the problem religious stread is one of the reason of the position against homosexuality. The second, more obvious reason is that for those religions, God created men and women different for a reason, so mating with the same sex is an act against the order created by god. If you observe a religious belief that says that homosexuality is a sin, then it's a sin, and no amount of popular opinion or polling is going to change that. Any religion which changes it's dogma to adapt to popular opinion isn't much of a religion (except for the religion of "liberalism," which is, by it's dogma, whatever popular opinion thinks it should be).   • A lot of religious texts were written a long time ago, when homosexuality was considered bad. However, quite alot of what's written in these texts isn't followed much anymore. For example Genesis 3:16 God says to Eve 'Your yearning will be for your husband, yet he will lord it over you.' I don't know any christan women who will bow down to their husbands and let him rule over them. The reason? Women have a better place in society now and aren't seen as inferior to men. Hopefully the christian view that homosexuality is wrong will change soon too. (Not that I'm saying that all christians are homophobic)

BUT... there is homosexual behavior in other animals than humans, the desire may not be "normal" (that is, part of the norm, or majority) in some circles, but it is natural, or else it wouldn't happen. Most religions hate alternative sexualities because it's not part of their "norm". If you belong to a religion which condemns homosexuality, ask yourself, "Why would I want to join a club which doesn't want someone like me to be a member?"   • Yes, being gay/lesbian IS a sin. The Bible is VERY clear on this subject. That doesn't mean God hates you because you are gay/lesbian, God loves the sinner, and hates the sin. But it doesn't make being gay/lesbian right ether. It is a sin, plain and simple. Down rate me all you want. I really don't care. If you down rate me, its only because you don't agree with me.   • If you are a fundamentalist of one of the main 3 monotheist religions then yes it is a sin according them. That's assuming you mean 'gay' as homosexual and not meaning 'gay to be happy and carefree.
  • I am not any better than anyone else. I just know what the Bible says.God is unchanging: Old Testament:Genesis 2:22, Leviticus18:22&23,1Kings 14:24. New Testament:Romans 1:26&27.   • Let me tell you a little secret. Sin is derived from your view. If you think its sinful, than it is. If you think its not, than its not. Its all from your view and perspective of the situation. Do you think being gay is a sin? If so, and your gay, you can join my in hell bro.   • The actual question is simple, the answer is simple, NO. The real question may be; is it morally right, and thus NATURALLY in order for humans to practice same gender genital activity. That is the real question : if ti is natural it is MORAL and if it is truly MORAL it is naturally good and wholesome too. Thnbat goes also for hetero-sexual relationship,s despite the culture it may be quite morally wrong to have intercourse for the flimsiest of reasons, 'love' is a badly battered four-letter word. The culture is confused now, does not know the difference between looing someone and having intercourse/genital activity, does not seem to manage deep friendship which transcends the genital - a celibate lifestyle that is quite natural and noraml with the grace of God, the guidance of our Inner Light or the Holy Spirit if we use religious language. Sex is not for 'recreation' it is for PROCREATION and support for a couple in their commitment wherin sexual activity is life-giving and pleasurable in a healthy context. Marriage implies that and calling same gender unions 'marriage' is destructive of what the while institution and society with our moral code are about. the person who quoted the OT/Jewish Bible is cutesy, not very original of course, but fails to show the distinction in that same book of Leviticus - and aslo in some instances in the NT/Christian Bible between MORAL interpersonal conduct and externals such as hair cutting and hygiene, sucha s hand-washing, not touching dead bodies, eating pork which can kill if not cooked properly!
