  • Tell them to screw. No need worry about others. Do what you want, and forget about everyone else.
  • You could try to explain the truth of the religion; However, some people won't listen. It might be more helpful just to ignore them, or state that "I worship the goddess and the universal spirit with great regard to nature, I don't believe in satan, therefore, I couldn't possibly worship him." That is the best I've got! Hope it helps!
  • Paganism is one of the first religions and a very respected concept. There are petitions around trying to have it recognised once again as a religion. Born in Scotland and Ireland, paganism is very underestimated and very miss understood. Are you sure you are a pagan and not simply a Devil Worshiper. Or just someone who is interested in the Occult? Check out the net on paganism. I think you may be surprised. I don’t like labels, religious or otherwise, but if I was to give myself a religious label it would be paganism.
  • You shouldn,t feel as though you have to explain yourself if you dont want to.
  • Well, the first thing you should say is that you don't worship the devil, make it sort of clear that you don't. Then explain to them about paganism and how pagans don't worship the devil and never would.
  • If you are going to worship something..anything.. you should at least know why and not have to ask other people to help you explain it. You should not worship anything without a reason and you should know what the reason is. That would amount to blindly following something that you don't really understand. Edit: You could explain what Paganism really is...and what it isn't. Sorry I read your question wrong.
  • Ask them why they insist on subscribing to uneducated prejudices instead of actively seeking factual knowledge about the beliefs of others.
  • "Who?"
  • Just because you are pagan does't mean you worship the devil or are evil. There are plenty of witches, warlocks and even satanist that beleive in an established, just and non-hypocritical society. Due to the gossip and slander of the mainstream it might be wise to keep your religion to yourself unless you like heat...
  • I've known plenty of Pagans and not one worshiped the devil. They didn't even believe in the devil.
  • If you believe in it then it should come natural otherwise Regroup
  • Educate them. They only say it because they don't understand paganism and have been fed a line of dramatic nonsense by movie studios. If you tell them what paganism really embodies, they'll be smarter and may go on to educate others.
  • My understanding of paganism is that you DON'T worship the devil, so why not just say, "I don't.".
  • Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't paganism originally disbelievant in deities? The deities that we understand the concept to be today were merely symbols representing masculinity, feminity, nature, childhood etc. So there would be no satan. Satan is the spirit/embodiment of mankind, all our natural urges that theistic scriptures preach against because they think that we are so much holier than every other creature on this planet when we are not. We have the same thought bases that all animals do, merely the ability to widen the variety with our higher thinking pattern. So if I was in your position, I would say "Yes, I worship the heart and soul of mankind. With all of our strengths and weaknesses, virtues and flaws, righteousness and selfishness being accepted and never judged."
  • I use this: Is ignorance truly bliss, they say you should ask the experts so enlighten me please.
  • I use this: Is ignorance truly bliss, they say you should ask the experts so enlighten me please.
  • "I don't, and I'd appreciate you having a good idea what you're talking about before you open your mouth to insult someone in the future, it's the least you could do before saying that someone else worships evil, loves lies, desires pain and death, and is looking forward to burning for an eternity in hell." That, or just explain what Paganism really is for you so that they can better understand you. (But seriously, if someone is a hardcore believer that Pagans secretly worship evil they'll just think you're lying to them, whereas if you explain as above how rude and foolish they are being in clear, logical terms they'll have no choice other than either conceding, or admitting that they are rude, foolish idiots... OR, they may choose to retaliate with a logical argument of their own, but I'm yet to witness logic in a fundamentalist, and I meet a GREAT DEAL of them : D
  • don't ask, don't tell, and hide the skull when the Jehovah witness Protection people drop by.
  • Ask them their name, then write it down. When they ask you what you're doing, tell them you're adding them to the list of monthly sacrifices. Some peple ask such questions because they just don't know. There's an oppertunity to inform them. Although, no matter how much you try, some people just don't want to hear the truth. Don't bother with them; let them believe otherwise. In the end, they'll be telling the wrong person what they think they know with a little too much confidence, and they'll finally get put in their place.
  • Tell them that they are quite mistaken, and that a most wretched Familiar from a most horrid evil demon has taken a hold of their minds and granted them the most horrible delusions. :3
  • Pagans don't worship the devil - devil worshipers do worship the devil. On the humorous side - so do most of the popes.
  • YOu should lean over and say in your most ominous voice, "Lucifer told me to tell you all was ready".
  • You should already know what to do and say , unless you are just needing attention from us
  • You should just tell them that you wanted an excuse to to kill goats every moon cycle and then watch as they run away.
  • If you worship the devil you are not pagan. Pagans are from the teachings of the old religion, the GOddess being almighty, along with the Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, and Spirit IE: the Elements. YOu should really study more on the religion because Pagans donnot believe in the Devil nor do they believe in GOD. Their is no Good and Evil only ONE within that is the polarity of both.
  • What is wrong with simply admitting to it? Are you somewhat ashamed?
  • Tell them the Devil is a Christian concept. Therefore, since you are not Christian you do not acknowledge the existence of the Devil as an entity. Simply because someone else believes the Devil exists does not mean that you have to. As a Pagan you may not.
  • explain what it is you truely do, then if they still dont beleive you, then dont worry about it, they are idiots :)
  • Tell them that you do not worship Satan as you do not believe in such fictitious nonsense and then explain to them your actual beliefs. It always annoys me when people hold the opinion that the pentacle is somehow associated with Ho Satanos / Ho Diabolos.
  • My Dad went born again about 8 years back, and I am constantly having to point out to him, that in order to worship the Christian Devil, you must first have Christian beliefs, so as a Christian he's closer to Satan than me!! If I'm accosted in the street (which I admit only happened once), I would like to say something along the lines of "You believe in Satan, I don't, bugger off", what I actually said was "Yeah, whatever mate" and walked on, which amounts to roughly the same thing!
  • Don't pay attention. Somethings take too long to explain to every close minded person who asks.
  • You could start by NOT saying you are Pagan. Pagans do not worship the Devil or Satan. Pagans do not believe in the Devil, he is part of the Judeo-Christian Religions and mythology. Most Devil worshipping groups are not Pagan, because they are centered on a Judeo-Christian supernatural being, namely Satan. These Devil Worshippers are a sect of Christianity, even though Christianity does not want to claim them.
  • just say you dont.
  •   pa·gan (pā'gÉ™n) n. 1. One who is not a Christian, Muslim, or Jew, especially an adherent of a polytheistic religion in antiquity. 2. A Neo-Pagan.pagan 3. Offensive. a. One who has no religion. b. A non-Christian. 4. A hedonist.     i am a pagan; a non-Christian. God exists outside of the universe. God caused the creation of the universe with the instant of the big bang. From that moment time came into being. Time is finite in going backward but may be infinite in going forward. Man can't perceive of the reality in which God IS. By attempting to confine God to our understanding of reality we create the basis for false assumptions. We are each entitled to our own belief systems. You are entitled to yours and i respect that. In my belief system i don't accept Jesus and conventional Christian doctrine. i believe that we are all part of the Fabric of God and that we will all eventually gravitate back into the Oneness of God regardless of the errors that may have occurred along our paths back to that Oneness. We are because God Is. God Is that we are. We all eventually return to God though by varied paths. What i believe! i don't believe in Heaven! i do believe in reincarnation! (Rebirth of the soul in another body.) i believe that everyone is part of the spiritual composition/soul of God. The purpose of everyone is to go forth into the earth plane and other planes to "experience" and to ultimately gravitate back into the Oneness of God. Along their paths of experience/knowledge acquisition, many entities (the spiritual particles of God) choose to enter (incarnate/reincarnate) the earth plane with various goals as purpose. When the entity's physical body dies the entity goes back to a state or plane of existence where it considers its immediate past. It judges whether it accomplished those goals that it set out to accomplish and determines in which plane and under what circumstances it may need to incarnate in order to accomplish additional goals on its way back to the Oneness of God. Essentially, the entity is its own judge as to accomplishments, failures, goals and the circumstances under which it chooses to incarnate. The above is my opinion and is expounded upon in my treatise A Search For Truth: http://www.asearchfortruth.com/old (If it's not an active link then simply copy and paste it into your browser's Address box.) Ted From my chosen path i stray, Yet my God ne'er turns away; For i have learned -- and understand, That where God is -- is where i am!
  • You don't need to say anything to them. If they are too ignorant to understand your religion, it is their problem, and you don't need to concern yourself with those too narrow-minded to learn more about other beliefs.
  • It's amazing how little those Christians know. I guess, that's why they call it "blind faith".
  • You say you are a pagan, it is your absolute right to be what you please. Research, read ask those who also are pagans and don't ask us something you should know. I am a Roman Catholic, thus I am sorry I can not help you. Do your homework. Regards.
  • You should simply say "No, do you?"
  • If I were you, I would just tell them to f*ck off. There is no point in trying to educate people like that.
  • you can say you don't worship the devil lol it's sad how people are so uneducated about paganism. youi worship the elements; not satan! just try to be patient. People only go off of what they know, educate them!
  • I have told people that as a Pagan, I don't believe in demons or Satan, so it's rather hard to worship something that doesn't exist.
  • you cant be a pagan and worship the devil because the Devil come from christianity,
  • You don't need to say a thing... though calling them ignorant may help.
  • I tell people I go with satan for the dental plan.
  • Just tell them Pagans don't believe in the Devil. You could also explain that the Devil is actually a Christian deity and it/he/whatever doesn't exist in your Pantheon, as it's a non-Christian pantheon.
  • Do you worship the devil? If you do, then say because he's awesome. If you don't, then say I don't worship the devil. Then ask why they are such dicks.
  • If u worship the devil the devil name is Satan. He is the arch-enemy of good so you should tell them you dont like God.
  • Ask them why they would think it's okay to question your beliefs, and refer them to some information on Paganism so that they won't feel the need to ask such an uninformed, ignorant question again.
  • I usually just shake my head and laugh and walk off. I got tired of trying to explain myself a long time ago. Then I realized - I don't have to!
  • If you actually read about it, you wouldnt have to ask would you?- ^_^
  • You can use it as an opportunity to educate those who do not know any better. If they refuse to see the truth you have to let it go.
  • I usually just answer, "I don't believe in the devil. I'm Pagan, not Christian."
  • Correct them. Pagans do not worship the devil. They dont even believe in the devil therefore it would be impossible to worship him.
  • Explain why you do it. And that folks is why I only do one show a night...I I just won't do more than that. Thank you!!!
  • Many here mistake Celtic for pagan. Rome was a pagan town back in 45 BC(as was Babylon in 850 BC and Egypt from 4K BC to 120 AD.), the Gales of Gaul, the Britons of England, and the Irish where megalithic celts ( The Roman state and the Catholic Church did an even better job of suppressing them than the Spanish did on the Mayans). Tell them that you worship the cyclic aspects of nature from birth to death and rebirth. That Karma IS. That you are a NeoCeltic . Pagan is non Hebrew Poly- Gods, any who aren't "I am , who am." The Zorasterains are pagan monoThiest, 'cause they ain't Johova / Yahway. Now most Christians really AIN'T. They are Neo-Hebrew psydo-pharisees PAUL-asites: people of Paul not of Christ. And pick and chose at that.
  • I thought pagans didn't belive in the devil, let alone worship him.
  • Simply reply that you worship the universe, especially the planet you live off of.
  • tell them no you dont, i worship gods and goddess. and none are necessarily evil or good
  • Ask them where they got that mistaken idea.
  • Doesn't really matter what you say - the people that think you worship the devil will continue to think so no matter what you say and how much education you offer. What I do: When they say "why do you worship the devil?" I say "Why are you a moron?" and walk away.
  • If you don't want to educate those who ask these sort of questions, don't volunteer your religious choices. You always have the choice of keeping it private.
  • Stab them in the larynx. Then say "bears should not work firehoses."
  • Remind them how impossible it is to worship a diety you don't believe exists.
  • Tell them "I'm not Christian". You might also ask them why the worship Santa Claus.
  • There are many great Answers to this problem, Although the best answer with any religious battle is the one out. antagonizing the person with self fulfilling riotousness by means of slander usually gets no where but a religious war. Instead take a moment to cool your head and reply that the devil is not in your work and Your path was chosen long before you chose it even Jesus walked amongst demons to grow closer to God!
  • Tell the the truth!
  • my dear friend if somebody asks you why do you worship the devil, tell him you do not worship the devil.you see christian ppl try to put their fear on us by telling us we worship the devil but we dont.we love nature and going back to our roots.the very basics of our existence.yes we cellebrate hollidays like beltane and lamas.but the christians took the pagan hollidays and used them as sacred hollidays.lamas became st jutte and jule became christmas.think about it the shepards were sleeping at night.well try to sleep outside in the field with the freezing cold outside.so or jesus was not born in december or it was a lie.because believe me you will not try and sleep in israel at that time of the year.and i could go on and on.i think these ppl are threatened by the fact that the pagan believe is the fastest growing in the world today.blessed be.cerridwen
  • Tell them that is just a stupid rumour invented to criminalise pagans and convert them to Christianity. Or tell them nothing. There is no reason to get into an intellectual debate with a clearly unarmed opponent
  • Ask them why they worship the Devil. When they become offended and say that they don't, point out that they also made a false assumption about you.
  • say: "What Devil? Where?"
  • excuse me for being mean.. im just in that mood today when they say that just tell them. ohh Satan wasn't no that not part of my religion. its a christian thing . you know i always wondered about that could you clear something up for me on the Satan thing."wait for them to say yes or just bum rush the question" how is it that an malevolent being created his favorite angle then his angle fell from his favor and became this evil being that corrupts humans. then ask them this Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is He neither able nor willing? Then why call Him God?
  • You mind your faith and I will mind mine.
  • Sacrifice them to your god, mighty Thor.
  • And you don't know what to say? Then I would have to say you don't know what you are. May GOD have mercy on you, for you will someday have to explain why you chose eternal death over eternal life.
  • You could tell them because the devil hasn't killed nearly as many people.
