  • My wife went to the emergency room with severe chest pains and left side numbness/pain radiating into her ribs and back, the er doctors did mri and cat scan, gave her a gi cocktail and put her on heart monitor. The er doctor told us something different every time he csme in, once she had a stroke, once she had ms, once it was just stress, and once it was heartburn (she had to use the restroom once and when they brought her back they put her blood pressure cuff on her iv and inflated it causing more pain and she now has a large bruise on her arm.). They decided to keep her overnight and do blood draws throughout the night (checking enzymes). When the doctor came in in the morning my wife was told she had a ti (mini stroke) and her treatment was to loose weight and quit smoking. later in the day she had another attack and the nurse gave her tylenol and called her doctor, the doctor didnt answer so they called the on call doctor, he read the er report that said she just had heartburn, wrote her a script for prilocec 1x daily and discharged her. two days later she had another attack (more severe) so we rushed her to a different hospital where she had three attacks within as many hours. they did an echocardiogram and other tests and found that she has pericarditis, she is now taking pills three times a day to help cure this. The doctors at the last hospital said this illness could have turned life threatening with the buildup of fluid around the heart if not treated. can we file suit against the first hospital for negligence or malpractice? I cant figure out why they checked her head instead of where the pain was (chest). Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
  • Yes, you can file.
