  • Drop the tank! . It is possible to do it, but with out a seesnake you will never know for sure you got it all out. Well until the engine locks up, then you will know you did not get it all. . Some cars have drain plugs on the gas tank.
  • NO What you propose to do is potentially dangerous. Vapors could potentially ignite in the shop vac causing fire or explosion. STOP Do No Proceed!
  • Hobbies?
  • How did the candy get into your tank? Sabotage or vandalism?
  • The vaccum might turn into a flamethrower.
  • Suuuuuuuure you could... At least, right up until the moment when the fuel/air mixture reached the sparking going on near the brushes of the electrical motor in the vacuum. • You could however take a regular hose and siphon the gas out. You could use a suction gun to get it started. They are less then 10$ at the auto parts store. If the candy has already dissolved you'll be good to go. If it hasn't how much is really in there? Diluted with 15 gallons of gas I can't imagine it would be a problem. I've dropped the gas tank in my car before and if it's full of gas it's no fun, very heavy. I'd do most anything to get the gas out first.
