My ps3 wont show any picture or sound when i used the av cables. why? please help

There are a couple of reasons this can happen. Can you hook it up using an HDMI cable? If so there may be a setting to enable the AV cables. It's also possible you have bad AV cables. If you have another set or know somebody with a PS3 and these cables I would test it.
