Very small chance of survival if at all, unless you are fairly close to shore.

One in 1,000,000,000,000,000 would be about it I would say. Oh, just a minute. I once met someone who did survive a plane crash in the ocean but it was a very small plane, unlike the French one that just went down.
-
Not good. Hitting the water is like crashing into cement, I'm told.
-
You mean a ditch? Hmm I don't know the statistics but I got to watch the 'Miracle on the Hudson' out of my window so I'm probably more optimistic than most.
-
No one suvives a direct hit. But if the plane crashes on the surface and skids I might survive the impact. And then I would get myself and everyone else out before the plane sunk!
-
there are a lot of variables. when they have time to prepare, they could make it. But the ocean is so big and no life boats and hyperthermia and sharks. not likely.
-
There was a plane crash off the coast of South Africa which had been hijacked. It ditched in the sea wing first, flipped over and ripped apart but people survived
-
I would say zero to none, I remember getting told if you dive into a pool without breaking the surface it will kill you because it is like hitting concrete, the higher the fall the harder the impact.
-
12 / 13 456 000 ; its true
-
Very unlikely, because you have to survive the crash first, which is basically the same as hitting the ground if you hit straight but if you clip it with the wing it drags the plane under and flips it, then you have to get out before the plane sinks, then you have to be rescued when nobody can find you
-
It all depends on the point of impact ... How fast the plane hits ... The condition of the plane before it hits ... Altitude it falls from before losing flight control ... I would prefer to travel by ship ... As most of our planes world wide have been flying for 30 years or so, many with very sub standard maintenance
-
Slim, but it is possible.
-
not very good i would probably be fish food
-
Plausible, not probable and making survival slim to none.
-
Not very good.
-
It depends upon the mode, fault, and the pilot of the Airplane.
-
Very slim chance. A French plane crashed in the Atlantic Ocean only a couple of days ago. +4
