yes, when i was younger, for a summer job i did that at a strawberry farm not too far from me, instead of detasseling corn like most kids my age did. (middle school jobs)

I have picked strawberries in my own yard, Chicago Lady. One year I bought some plants and put them in a little spot in the sun. Not many strawberries but it was the experience.
-
Yes, I used to have strawberry beds of about 100 plants, along one side of my garden. That was a treat and a half. Where I live now, we have several big strawberry farms in the area.
-
I've picked them at 'pick your own' places and grown them myself. I do prefer when others grow them as they are quite fussy and hard to keep going from year to year without careful weeding.
-
yes, every summer,,:)
-
Yes :)
-
No but I have picked blackberries.
-
Every year. There is a very large strawberry orchard just 5 miles from me.
-
Yes, and I grow a small patch of my own every year as well.

Yes and never again!! I had it as a summer job when I was 10, for two weeks every day bar Sunday from 7am - 2pm I picked strawberries. At the end of it I was paid £4 (old Irish pounds) which is around €6 I think. It was basically slave labour!!! And my fingers were destroyed from them, the seeds being on the outside of course. It was horrible!!!
-
No--but i've been picked up by the fuzz!
-
Yes but its a bad idea going to these farms when you are hungry because you end up eating more then you box lol.lush
-
Yes, I used to. There are several orchards in town. These days I don't eat that much, I just buy from the supermarket.
-
Yes, I grew up doing this with my parents, and last year we went to a strawberry field that is a few miles from our house. We will probably go again this year when the berries are ready. (Should be in about 4 weeks.)
-
interstingly, agriculture tourism is making its presence felt by arranging similar facilities.
-
Nope..but years ago I picked them out of my own garden! We had zuccini (who doesn't?), green onions, carrots, radishes, pickling cucumbers..the cucumbers and the strawberries were very compatible! :)
-
Yes, I have. I was really young and all I remember is getting a splinter in my finger.
-
My mom used to go and pick berries at some distant relative's house that had about a half-acre berry field. It usually was during the warmest part of the year and bending over the plants in the hot sun often made her feel ill. It kinda turned me off from doing it. That's back when pick-your-own was about 50 cents a quart. What is it now?
-
Not to be "PICKY", but aren't orchards places where trees grow?
-
I remember "Pick your own" used to let you piled up as much as you can in quart cotainers at no extra charge. These days they charge by the weight. :) +5
-
There was a little red wooden table, and I ran my fingers over it and got a splinter.
-
Never were I live now, but every year when I was a kid.
