Pretty much any animal instinctively knows to some degree things like feeding (suckling a mother's teat) or breathing (even if it needs a slapstart)...all kinds of instincts kick in early when there's nothing else to stand on. As for later instincts, ones that pop out for me are things like migration and mating practices.
