"The Magnificat" is the name of the Blessed Virgin's hymn of praise to God. (Luke 1:46-55). It is named thus for the first words of the canticle in Latin: Magnificat anima mea Dominum, et exultavit spiritus meus in Deo salutari meo. My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

It's not called this in Luke, but among Catholics, Lutherans, and many other Christians, it has become known as the Magnificat.
