I don't think so. I just finished reading an article about spam venereal disease. Not pretty. I think the only meat you can count on is your own. You can't beat your own meat.

Actually there have always been loads of diseases that animals could get. Meat is as safe as it's always been. Just make sure you buy it from sources you can trust.

I hate to tell you but it is HUMANS that have Swine Flu 81 have already died in Mexico City and there are cases In Texas , California, Kansas and a couple of other States. There are fears that it could be Pandemic.

Interestingly, these diseases have less to do with the animals and more to do with the humans keeping the animals. Meat and animals are perfectly safe to eat unless some human got to them, kept them in putrid conditions or started feeding them to each other.

Chicken must be cooked all the way - just like pork - if you do this - everything unsafe is cooked out. Cows - with mad cow disease has not hit the US - cows are the only meat really that you can eat rare. You can't get the flu from cooked meat. it comes contaminated from meat uncooked.

They're safer than they've ever been. Any little thing is simply sensationalized by the media in an attempt to sell copies and ad space.
