  • This can be a serious issue..you need to see an eye doc ASAP..Could be the veins bleeding inside of your eye(which if not treated can cause retinal detatchment) I had the same symptoms and they caught it quick enough to repair..It's a simple procedure, they numb your eye and then use a laser to cauterize the bleeding little tiny veins.
  • go to the doctor now
  • that can be really bad... You better go to the DR... take care of yourself...
  • You need to get to your opthamolagist, not optomotrist, as soon as possible. If you can't get in to see them immediately, visit the emergency room at your local hospital.
  • I don't want to scare you, but my mother had reported the exact same things. Turned out to be a brain tumor that took several doctors to find what was causing it. If it's not your eyes stay on it. Make them do an MRI/CAT scan, etc.. Good luck! I and everyone else I'm sure hope its something minor and probably is. ;) On the good side of things, I've seen those things on and off all my life. Could just be a crossed nerve somewhere too.
  • Fortunately, the Internet doesn't have a degree in diagnostic medicine. You should, however, see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. It could be nothing, it could be something serious.
  • Today, I heard that my cousin had to be taken to Vanderbilt hospital just a few days ago because one of her eyes felt scratchy and she couldn't see very well. They found that her retina in that eye was starting to detach as well as the retina in the other eye. Her friends had to talk her into going to the eye doctor - she wasn't going to go. She had surgery and is now on bedrest for the next six weeks. Not to scare you but you need to see a doctor asap.
  • I have all the experience with a detached retina. Take the 'flashes' which will appear like 'streaks of lightning' as the first symptom of a serious detachment. The floater could be trouble with the cornea or vitreous. I would advise you to lie down on your back eyes facing upwards so that the retina can settle down. Do not move the eye balls - keep looking straight. At the earliest opportunity consult a retina specialist surgeon who will look into the eye with an indirect opthalmoscope and determine if your condition is indeed a retinal detachment. If the retina has detached itself - then the surgeon will advice immediate surgery. Every hour of delay in surgery could cost you loss of thousands of optic nerves. Go to the best eye hospital available. Till you are in the care of the surgeon's hands, take care not to move your head or eyeballs to save as much of the optic nerves as possible. The surgery itself has been perfected over the years and the vision that is available at the time of the surgery is guaranteed to you for life. Take my advice and prevent unnecessary loss of your field of vision. Best of luck.
  • You must get to a doctor immediately my friend. Floaters are not the worry..flashes of light is. I had the same thing a few years ago and called the emergency room of my hospital and explained the situation...it was a Sunday. They told me to get over there immediately..it was comparable to having a heart attack for the heart..flashes of light are that deadly serious. When I arrived an eye surgeon was waiting for me and examined me and within an hour I was undergoing laser surgery to save my sight..it was a tear in the retina that would get bigger. Get to the doctor immediately.
