It's not just to give handouts and blabber on all day long, like they do in my school, but instead it's to make sure each and every individual understands what you're teaching them. They're responsibilty isn't to just pass kids. It's to make sure they do the best they can and actuall ymotivate them to come to school. Give them a reason to be happy to go to school and be anxious to learn. Otherwise they're all going to be like me. School-haters.

I've found that it doesn't matter what subject I teach, if I show an interest in each child, they'll learn something. It's more important to me to let my students know that I care about them and that I'll be there for them, whatever the time or situation, than the grade they make on a test. And you know what? If they know I care, everything else seems to fall into place because they don't want to disappoint me.

I really like some of the answers. I would have to say, from my experience of someone in the private sector who works with teachers in meetings about how they will work with kids, it's essential that the teacher have a positive outlook on life. With that, the rest seems to follow.

MOST important: to love the students as whole people, regardless of their issues and ability levels. Also important: loving your subject matter, and doing so in front of the students. I would add keeping your temper, knowing your materials, planning ahead, differentiating your instruction, and being reliable, both to the students and your coworkers. But loving the kids is the BIG one. :>)

As a student in a university i think that the most important teacher's responsabilities are to encourage student don't let them feel lost and confused.Teachers must before giving the appropriate lectures forget about discrimination because most of them are doing differences between us and that really makes us loose the desire of learning so we fail ad that is not fair.

As a teacher, I would say that it is to do their job passionately and creatively, in efforts to spark a natural curiosity in their students, that will continue outside the classroom.
