yes if the service was good , dont screw the waitstaff for a shity cook!
-
yeah..the waiter didn't cook the food. But if they were extremely rude..then no.
-
Yes, if the waitress or waiter is good. I like to make sure they are the one that gets it though.
-
If you've ever been a waiter or a waitress, you know what kind of work goes into it. Yes I do.
-
Of course. Its the service you tip for not as much as the food.
-
Sure I do. It isn't the server's fault the food is bad.
-
Yes, the waitress didnt make the food. The only time I intentionally didnt tip a waitress was when I had one that was rude.
-
Waitress pay is like $2-$3 an hour. If the service is good they should always get a tip. Would you want to wait hand and foot and clean up after a bunch of messy slobs for $3 an hour? Even if you don't make a mess is it their fault that the cook is stupid?
-
If the serves was good then yes, it wasn't the servers fault the food was bad.
-
not all the time,i feel for the waitress but,if shes uunfriendly , or slow (which i always seem to get) then very little to nothing.
-
I leave the server a tip as long as the service is good; she/he didn't make the food.
-
No idea - ive never had to leave a tip.
-
Yes, the waiter/waitress didn't cook the food.
-
Yes, it is not the waitpersons fault when the food is badly cooked. I will speak to the manager though.
-
Yes, I always do. It's common courtesy.
-
yes, but send the food back or speak to the manager. the server didn't make the food just delivered it. always leave a tip of some sort even if it's just to let them know they were not forgotten.
-
As long as the service is good the tip is good. As no one forced me to choose that restaurant and the waiter/waitress didn't cook the food, it isn't their fault if it is bad. I would ask to speak to the manager, though, and let them know.
-
Only if they try to correct the bad food, it's their job to insure I have a positive dining experience.
-
Waitressing is one of the hardest jobs around. I always tip unless the service really sucks and its the waiter or waitress' fault.
-
Yes you definetly do. The waiter/waitress depend on those tips for a living. You tip then you can write a review that that the food is not good. Always tip though!
-
NO! they get the same amount as me i work in retail and do a shitload and dnt get tipped
-
Yes, because the poor server has nothing to do with the quality of the food......this has happened to me...what I do is write on my check that the food was bad, etc.,,, then when I go to pay, I point it out to the cashier......and I make the printing BIG so no one can miss it!!!!!!!!
-
If the service is good, yes.
-
Only if the service was good...
-
Well yes, it's just part of having proper etiquettes even though the food is really bad.
-
yes, it's not the waiter or waitress' fault that the food sucked, it's the cooks. Don't punish the dog for something the kid did.
-
Yes you do because the waitresses get the tips, not the cooks. Its not their fault the food was bad.. there just doing the running around:] so def yes.
-
Yes, it's not the servers fault that the food was bad.
-
As long as the service is good i always leave a tip. i have only once ever had to not leave a tip.. the women was rude and that was when she did make it to out table ( the place wasn't bizy ether we could see her sitting and chatting with somone) but there is this IHOP near us that has this guy.. he takes your whole order by memory and never messes it up! he visits our table a few times makes sure we have our drinks full and is always very nice. so he always gets a nice tip.
-
Yes..I always tip the waitress if she was good. It's not her fault that the food tastes bad or it took a long time. Unless of course she let the food sit in the back to get cold and gross. I'm a waitress and it gets so busy at times, I thank everyone for their patience when it gets like that and there's only one me to go around.
-
I can honestly say that I've never given anyone a tip.
-
Exactly.. I agree with the guy below. If the WAITRESS is rude.. I probably wouldnt tip her either. They get paid to be sweet and perky and are supposed to make people want to go back to the place. IF you get a rude waitress, who would want to go back right.
-
Yes, I was a waitress once and know hard it can be. Some people are extremely rude and the waitress usually takes the heat for everything even when it's not her fault so I always tip my server. I haven't forgotten what a rotten job that was.
-
Yes, it is not the servers fault if the food did not come out good. I think it is very important to tip, its how they make their money. I leave a low tip or no tip if the service its self is terrible. Very rarely do I leave no tip. When I do I feel bad, but its their job to be kind and help you enjoy your meal and have you leaving wanting to come back.
-
No, bad food, bad service = bad tip.
-
Yes, it is not the server's fault and they work hard.
-
Yes, if the service was good. They are not responsible for the food's taste, just getting it to my table.
-
Not if it cost me a fortune! Last time our food bill was about 200$ food was crap, no, no tip.
-
yes
-
tipping is not the norm here
-
They will be bringing me the food back right or I'm not even paying for it. If the server sincerely apologizes and makes the effort to get it right the server is still likely to get a couple of dollars but if the food isn't right I'm not eating it or paying for it. Mistakes happen and I appreciate very much when the effort is made to make it right.
-
Yes. It is not the server's fault.
-
Yes I do .
-
I don't punish the food server. It's not their fault.
-
Never. They earn money in their job so why should I give them extra money when it’s not necessary from the customer? It’s not like I’m breaking a law by not giving them money. I paid for the meal and that’s enough. If they want a tip from me it will be on the shoulder.
-
Yes, I always leave a tip if the food was good or bad as long as the waitperson did a good job. On the other hand if the food was good or not but the waitperson did a lousy job I will leave them a tip of from 10 to 25 cents to tell them their service was bad. I have done this only a couple of times.
-
yes
-
It's not the food servers fault.
-
Nope, only fools who have money to throw away show sympathy for the waiters. Tips or no tips, they are still getting paid. And besides, giving the restaurant your business, despite of the crappy food is enough.
-
When I was a server/waitress we earned less than half of minimum wage as our pay. Tips are expected to bring it up to minimum wage. If not they take the AVERAGE of your earnings for the WEEK, and if that is less than minimum wage they compensate you. After paying taxes (they took taxes on minimum wage plus declared tips) and insurance I had no paycheck at all. It was all tips, so you cheap asses out there who stiff your waitress are lower than whale dung!! That said, if a waitress can't make a living waiting tables, she needs to get another job. As for this question, the waitress is supposed to correct the problem of bad food before it gets to the table, but they are not the cook. I've worked with bad cooks before and it was reflected in my tips. I would tip the waitress, but I would talk to management about the food and try to get a discount or some sort of compensation. I've also tipped my cook if I made good money and they helped me out to get it.
