  • Yes. As an Obama supporter I don't think it's a wise choice and I hope he reconsiders, but who knows what he has in mind.
  • Thats just plain wrong.
  • It is absolutely ridiculous. They are employed by the US government and their health care should be paid for by the US government. We pay the costs of all of the senators, representatives, and the President. Why should the US not foot the bill for those defending the country? I am really kind of speechless here.
  • As a veteran of two military conflicts, I am beyond outraged. Riots have started for less
  • Why would US soldiers need private health insurance? They and their dependents get free medical care at any military base.
  • It's an insult to all brave American's who have spent a day of service to our country. they should receive free health care for life, including prescriptions, have top knotch medical facilities and have easy access adjusting to civilian life when their term of service is over. I don't risk my life everyday for my country. They do and should be rewarded.
  • He announced today that after looking at it, he has abandoned that as a very bad idea. Seems to me it makes sense to at least look before you decide you already know what's best without any facts. We've had enough of that sort of "leadership".
  • I am at least as outraged as you sir. As a military veteran that visits the VA hospital on occasion and has watched the services and treatments available dwindle to a trickle while costs for certain procedures and medications rise at twice the rate of inflation. I cannot help but wonder if the politicians in Washington have forgotten that they taught us to attack and over run a formidable enemy position. "...ALL enemies. Foreign AND domestic". The unqualified junior senator from Illinois with no experience and questionable credentials is in WAY over his head. I believe outrage is an appropriate response. It's no wonder to me that his approval rating is dropping like a stone. This is the Commander in Chief? I think not! .
  • They should get all the best care. Bottom line, we would all still pay for it through taxes. Even if it went to private health care, we would pay for it through increased premiums.
  • It is a damned fool thing to even consider.
  • I am outraged Captain Jack. Yes I am. Not nearly as outraged as I am about our invading Iraq, being responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, engaging in torture and having over 4000 of our kids lose their lives because of an unnecessary war. But outraged I am. Happy Thursday! :) Interesting that some are outraged about this insurance thingy but apparently not outraged about the American kids wounded and maimed for life that this war caused...talk about focusing on the tree and ignoring the forest! Tsk tsk tsk.
  • I expected him to do things like this. Well he needs to realize a soldier's insurance is the federal government. And he need to leave our retirement benefits alone. I earned my bendifits and now he want to take office and take my earned benefits away. Knew the SOB would do these things to take over America.
  • I think it's stupid and he was not informed correctly. I like Obama, a lot, but this is a HUGE mistake and I am hopeful he realizes it. I am a disabled person and a veteran, I was hurt during service. Of course I received little to no medical care from the government, but that's another story. I was even denied medical care while injured in service and that too in another story. Please Pres. Obama, do not do that, it's wrong on every level.
  • The way I see it they served our country and now our country needs to serve them. ;) +6
  • They've got to fund healthcare for illegal aliens somehow. Apparently, they wanted it to be at the expense of our veterans.
  • I'm not outraged by the consideration. I'll be very outraged if it happens. This is something that was posed by someone and doesn't mean that it was even given serious consideration.
  • Unfortunately our leader is only as wise as his advisors. Say "Hello" again to special interest groups. We can never do enough for our military.
  • It is truly sickening Captain !! .... and I have a feeling that it's only the beginning of the TOTAL F**KIING DISASTER yet to come !!! : (
  • It's not happening: http://tinyurl.com/c8rbck
  • YAARRR CAP'IN... Ye aint shiverin me timbers thar Cap'in... Dem Lily-Livered, Scallywagin' sons of biscuit eaters need to be KeelHaul'd and sent astraight ta Davey Jones Locker..To e'en be considerin' such a ting is an outrage...I got a Black Spot fer em'...What kinda "change" be dis?????
  • I never heard of such a thing....your source please!
  • Don't believe it. All vets are covered for life by VA

  • If Barak Obama moved into a trailer, got his wife a job at walmart, himself a job at mcdonalds, lived off of that income and insurance, I would respect a whole lot more of his decisions regarding anything.
  • This was killed on arrival. It was total bullshit and I can't believe he even brought it up. Obama is spending all this money on crap we don't need and then wants to save a very small amount by taking from our vets. Give me a break, this guy is a joke. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/18/vets.insurance/?iref=mpstoryview
  • Let's see... Barack briefly CONSIDERS a privatization plan and then rejects it while W ACTUALLY ATTEMPTS to privatize health care and Social Security, yet you are bashing Obama? Let's take up a collection and send you to Betty Ford; you need to lay off the Crack!
  • Don't believe everything you hear on Fox: "Fox News promo falsely claimed Obama "pushes a plan" requiring vets to pay for health insurance" http://mediamatters.org/items/200903190022?lid=948534&rid=23354872 ""During the March 19 edition of Fox & Friends, Fox News aired a promotion for that evening's broadcast of Hannity that falsely claimed: "[President] Obama pushes a plan that could force vets to pay through the roof for health coverage." In fact, the White House has stated it does not support a provision previously under consideration that would have billed military veterans' private insurance companies for treatment of their combat-related injuries performed at Veterans Administration hospitals.""
  • Good God, yes. And that is but one of the outrageous things. More is yet to come. Hold onto your hat, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
