  • It is always comments. Points tend to become a chasing game. Good comments always force you to better frame your answer. Points are bonus though.
  • Personaly it does not even need to be nice. I love reading what people have wrote it shows that they are taking the time to read the answers and think about them. When people answer my questions I always try and leave a little something to let them know I thank them for their time and answer.
  • Hey points are great, but wow, some of the baggers have leveled me with their great comments. They can be so gracious and kind. Which reminds me of a certain thought: "As apples of gold in silver carvings is a word spoken at the right time for it." (Proverbs 25:11)
  • Gotta go with the comments.
  • Giving a point is anonymous and it just means that the person thought it was good. But a comment, you know who it is and if they say something nice, it always feels better than a number like +4.
  • Comments. I feel like I earn comments
  • I actually find that when I'm not in the best mood, an up-rating without a comment is almost as annoying as a down-rating without a comment. I come here to be connected with people -- and people are individuals, not numbers and measurements. The way we connect with people on the bag, where you can't see a smile or pat someone on the back, is to comment.
  • Good comments make me feel good. I love points, don't get me wrong. But they can be arbitrarily assigned. A comment lets me know what someone is thinking and I am always flattered when people take the extra time to comment. That said, I do think it is STRANGE when someone leaves a positive comment but does not award points.
  • Nice comments, I love getting them.
  • I always appreciate a comment. I answer a question with thought and honesty, and hope that my answer would be appropriate, and it would help someone in a positive way.
  • A comment. I love to get comments. I am disappointed when no one comments. It's like a one way conversation. I give points without comment too; but, I try to give a little something to most answers.
  • I like both, but comments seem to stick with ya longer!!
  • I love comments - thoughtful ones, whether they are in agreement or not. I've learned a lot from comments that disagree and offer something I hadn't considered. I like making those connections with people that communication offers. Comments are much more valuable to me than points.
  • I must say it is always nice for people to leave a nice comment, so that would come first
  • A well thought thru comment beats all. Points are ok too, but aren't worth a hoot without a comment too.
  • I rather have points but a nice comment is always worth something as well
  • A comment, always... however I do find it odd when someone leaves a really nice comment and doesn't give points at the same time.
  • I am here for the comments and the discussions that ensue - not a rating that doesn't apply to my real life. I don't feel like I get enough comments - but then again, maybe I need to initiate their receipt by leaving more myself. :-)
  • Its all about the answers. points are just numbers. People are human and need answers to their questions. Giving honest, truthful answers is what its all about. A number is just a number.
  • someone leaving a nice comment on your question
  • I like comments. I would even rather people who downrate my answers to leave a comment as to what about my answer they disagreed with...I can handle opposing viewpoints..but they never do.
  • I'm so new but I would rather comments any day.
  • For me, this site is all about the interaction. I'll take the comments any day.
  • I'm not going to lie, I like both! :)
  • comments. I like discussion, the points don't mean anything.
  • I prefer comments, honestly! I like to hear from people. I don't really keep track of the points, to tell the truth. I just like to see what people have to say.
  • A nice comment would motivate more those people devoting their time to AB.
  • I would honestly say (Both). I like to get points so I can go up the levels (addictive like playing a game almost). I love getting comments from people. It there (In the comments) where ABer's "connect with you", not the answer. I've found the comments are usually better and they keep us here and motivated.
  • I will take comments over points any day..:-)
  • A nice comment. Points are good, too, but nice comments give it all a personal touch!
  • I prefer the comments. A good comment either congratulating that my answer was correct, or supporting the answer is always nice.
  • Today is my 2nd day on answerbag so I dont understand the whole pt system. so i guess it would be a nice comment. I found this by accident. I like it.
  • points are nice, but a comment is so much more personal and takes more time of the person's life to say rather than just giving points.
  • Neither, honest answers are worth far more
  • Why is everyone so obsessed with points, I thought the whole point of being on here was to help people.
  • it is really about the comments and the convo. points are just there because people have to feel like they are good at something, and most our so simplex (i love that word) that a made up points scale resembles their own self worth, and makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside. its kind of like a "guarantee" stamp on a box of a product you buy. But its all about the comments.
  • Some of my answers turn into mini chat rooms and I really appreciate conversing with so many of my friends on AB through the use of the comments.
