I've been to jail a number of times, but never served a sentence longer than 7 days. Various small time crime, basically when I was 18..23 (my Wonder Years!). Burglary, drugs, failing to show up in court. That's where I got shifty eyes, in fact.
-
5 hours in the drunk tank for ONE overdue parking ticket!! I thought I was going to be raped by the motorcycle gang that was in there. It really was abit spooky.
-
I spent about 5 hours in jail once, until my attorney could show that my identity had been mistaken. They were actually after someone with a similar name. Scared the hell out of me.
-
I went to jail for a lengthly amount of time for vehicular assault. No prior record and became an instant felon.Have no record since then either. It was all B.S. really. Another example of taking a law meant for a certain purpose and twisting it around to make new criminals.*sigh*
-
I was in jail for 2 weeks for a domestic violence charge I got when I punched my dad for punching my mom.
-
Unfortunately I have. I was in a car with a drunk driver. I didn't think she was drunk. I knew she had been drinking. We got pulled over and they searched her vehicle. It turns out she had weed in the car. We both went to jail. I had to stay the night there. I was cleared, but it gave me an arrest record. It is now over 20 years old, but it still upsets me. I made a bad decision to ride with her that night.
-
Yes. I did two twelve hour stints in a holding cell... once when I was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and the other when there was some paperwork glitch in my bond when I went back to court for the original charge. Even though they were both less than a day and I never joined general population it was enough to make me realize I don't ever want to spend another hour there. There is something about having your shoelaces taken away and needing permission to pee or eat that makes you see things much more clearly.
-
I have never even seen the inside of a jail.
-
Yeah, I used to go every other week to visit my dad from 0-2 years old. Hated the place. Never been chucked in prison myself though, but there is still time!
-
I did 10 years in a Federal prison for hacking into the NASA main frame ... only joking ... lol Never ... I'm an Angel ...
-
ive been held over night once for being too drunk. i wont be going back again. it was pathetic anyway i dont know if its on record or not because ive never been in trouble before that or since
-
a few hours over an unpaid traffic ticket, overnight - well because my boyfriend had long hair? I know it sounds lame, but they're allowed to hold you for 24 without charges. amd they did?
-
Yes, I spent the night in jail. I was going for my usual late night jog, and a police vehicle just happened to follow me. I picked up the pace and the cops were on me. I then proceeded to sprint and take short cuts through houses and jumping over fences. Eventually they captured me. And kept me in a jail cell. Someone just happened to got shot nearby where I was jogging and I just happened to fit the description of this man. Hence why they were after me. In the end, they found person responsible for it. And the police did'nt even apologised. Maybe because of my skin tone? I don't know...
-
Never been arrested! That's not due to any great virtue on my part, because in all honesty I've done things that would definitely have landed me in prison had I been caught. Just lucky! I've always been lucky, and avoiding arrest has been one of my most mysterious and uncanny forms of luck. I'm a law abiding citizen now, and thankful for the protection that shielded me so many times from the consequences of my own stupidity. My heart does truly go out to all you people who were arrested and did go to prison, because you were no different to me, but you got caught!
-
For winning an argument with two police officers who were completely wrong and because they wern't happy they put me in jail overnight and i was given warning and they told my parents that i was giving abuse even though i only said p*** off coz they were lying so much!
-
Yes, boring.
-
no..never
-
Embarrasingly enough, once. I drove 1 block to my house from a party and parked right outside of my house, keys still in the ignition and the police turned on his lights. I had to do all of the OWI/DWI tests (in front of my house!) barely blew over the limit, and was taken to jail anyway until the next morning. I was given a deferred judgement and have never done anything like this again but my life was sure hell for about a year! All I remember is that had to pee and refused to go in front of all of those women so held it until I was home 6 hours later-

I have been 9 times, which always shocks people (knowing that I am a pastor's wife), but it was to sing and present Jesus. How was it? when the gate swings shut, a weight hits your heart. and, looking at the faces, particulary of the juveniles, rips your heart out. I guess I loved visiting the women most, because they talk to me freely, and I know that, literally, there but for the grace of God go I. Holding them as they cry, listening to their love for their children, their despair...life should not treat people so badly. it can be scary too, like finding out that one of the ladies you spoke to was not what she told you....eeeekkkk.
-
Yes, I have. I went to County overnight on a charge that was later dismissed, and I went in with my best friend of the time. It was enlightening, fun in a slumming kind of way, and I think one of the most positive overall experiences that I have lived through. It changed me in a lot of ways, opening up my eyes to the amount of injustice that is parcelled out to people who can't escape the cycles of poverty and violence. It made me feel fortunate to not be a part of it, and resolved me not to contribite to the problem. In short, I walked in a Republican and came out a Democrat:)
-
Not quite a day. In 1989 I was in Cape Town in South Africa and quite by chance ended up on the fringes of a pro-democracy demonstration. There were many hundreds of riot police and about the same number of demonstrators. I was arrested by a plain-clothes policeman when I impulsively made the clenched fist salute in support of the demonstrators. I was detained for about eight hours, along with most of the British and foreign press who were covering the event. It was quite fun in a way, although also quite frightening. Even in jail in the apartheid system there was very different treatment for whites and blacks. We whites were treated fairly well, but I saw a black journalist who had been very badly beaten. I don't kid myself that I made a difference in the removal of a vicious and evil regime, but I was there.

I have been to jail. I was convicted of a felony (drug related) back in 99. I was 17 at time of arrest and 18 at time of convition. Not a fun time in my life, or a period that I am particularily fond of. I got out, did my parole with a clean slate, and have never been back! I am planning on keeping it that way too.

I was very young and stupid. I was once arrested for driving after suspension. The suspension was for driving an un-inspected car. My total time in jail: 1 hour 23 minutes. Seemed like a lifetime.

-
Only to get someone out on bail.

Yes, sort of... The one time I've been in a prison was for MOUT training with the military. The training we were doing was room and building clearing.
-
I was in for 46 hours awaiting arraignment. The charges were disorderly conduct, rioting, and criminal damage. I had tipped over the Klan's cross. All of the charges were overturned at the state level.

As a pastor's wife, and a pastor myself...I have to confess that i have been...over 9 times. But only as a singer/evangelist and sometimes as a visitor. Believe me, there are many nice people inside who just got caught, and a lot of rotten ones on the outside who didn't.
