  • a good computer will usually last like around 10 years if you take good care of it. i'm using one thats 5 years old
  • My last phone was the only computer I had for 5 years. None of my computer's lasted that long that I can recall. Right now I'm using a phone and I don't know how old it is it was given to me.
  • Previous used Dell Optiplex bought from eBay lasted three years. Current OptiPlex is two years old, so we will soon see if that is standard.
  • Five years is the typical life expectancy. My last two computers lasted around 8 years each. I currently have a Dell that I have had for a year and a half.
  • I've found that computers start developing problems at about the 5-year point. You can nurse them along, certainly, and I've done that with a couple with which the issues weren't major, but I usually replace after 5 or 6 years. I think I had my first computer, which I didn't really use as anything but a word-processor, for 8 years. The one I have now is 3 years old.
