Gold is measured in the troy system where a pound equals 373.2 grams, and feathers are measured in the avoirdupois system (commonly called "postal") where a pound equals 453.6 grams. So a pound of feathers weighs almost 1/3 more than a pound of gold because they are two different pounds.
