  • Yes I have a few that have become rude when I did not answer when they thought that I should. All of my friends know that I only have a cell phone now. No need for a land line so had it removed. Cell phones need charged and they know I shut mine off while charging and I turn it off when I go to bed. I will not talk on the cell while I am in the bathroom and if they call and do not leave a message I figured it was not important enough to call back. But still they will call when they know there are times I will not answer the phone and not leave a message. They get mad they can get over it under it or around it, however they want to work it out. When my friend act this way they know I will not tolerate it and I will ignore them until they do. It is always good to let your friends in on how you do things that may effect them.
  • Well Spicey that sounds like our adopted sons mother who calls all the time.We screen our calls and only answer less than a quarter of them because they are nonproductive and mentally harmful for Michael who only would talk to her if he wanted something anyway. When she complained he told her she called too much and that put the" cabash" to that. You know I really love that kid........For having handicaps he still sees the big picture most of the time.
  • I get messages on my machine that accuse me of screening calls.I don't want to be at someone's beck and call.I laugh and tell them I screen calls.
  • I do it ALL the time. More often than not the call goes on the answering machine and lots of people take umbarage.Even if they call on the cell at times its locked up with the purse in the cupboard and I don't hear it. My response to them. Sorry I missed you but if you really needed to reach me urgently you should have left me a message.
  • Mother-in-law.... I just tend to hang up.
  • Ignore. Unless it is an emergency call, the phone is their for our use, our convenience and there are times when it is simply inconvenient to drop/stop everything and run to the phone. Some will say "come on..I know you're there..pick up" as if we are under some obligation to follow their demands/commands/orders. Fortunately, that is quite rare. :) We return calls at our convenience just as we expect others whom we call to return our calls at their convenience. We don't think the world revolves around us and we have little patience with those who think it revolves around them! :)
  • Just the opposite. I work third shift, so whenever I get a call from a relative and I answer. They always ask, "Did I wake you up?"
  • I have a friend who gets super pissed in those situations. I just get super pisses right back. Then he gets all defensive & hurt and it's really sappy really... I don't like doing it lol.
  • Not my family. They're not like that. My better half does. I've checked my phone and have had 20 missed calls and 10 voicemails. Hehehe. The voicemails were always a riot to listen to. the first one would always be pleasant but as I went through them they would get progressively worse. Hahaha! I never thought people could get that pissed off! Hahaha! How do I handle that? Just blow it off. My sanity is far more valuable to me than hers is. :-)
  • Daily!! We always let the machine take it. Unless it is my mom or grandma calling. If they talk on the machine then we will answer it. They say why do you have a phone if you won't answer it? I say I am an adult and I pay the damn bill. If I choose to NOT answer it is my choice. BUZZ OFF! :-) +5
  • It's funny how people think they have the right to intrude and get immedidiate attention. I first noticed it a couple of decades ago with faxes- "I sent you a fax, have you done it yet". Hell no I haven't done it! I put it on the bottom of the pile and I'll get around to it in due course. Now, it's "I sent you an e-mail". Well, big damned deal. I have my phone programed not to even ring unless the call's from certain people. And I'm the easiest person in the world to get in contact with if you actually need me and will tell me why.
  • not that mad she said "i called you at like 10 and u didnt answer" i said "my sister took it"
  • Tell them the phone is for your convenience. Sorry.
  • Give them a little kick with your awesome looking shoes
  • Yes they are all are mad, I never answer the phone. The answering machine is my best friend.
  • I have a friend that use to do that. In fact, she would continuously call me until I answered! We aren't that close anymore because it started to piss me off that she would keep calling and calling and calling. I told her that if I didn't answer the first time it was either that I was too busy, in the bathroom or some other reason and not to leave me message after message; that I would call her back after ther first message when I was abled.
  • I act like I could care less.Mmm I don't know.So..I'll call you when I can. That usually makes them angrier which I enjoy since it ticks me off that they think I should be at their beck & call.
  • That happens a lot you call me most of the time I will not answer.!!! Tell them the truth. I do not want to talk !!!!!!!!!!!!
  • thats easy my wife
  • i hardly ever answer my phone and they got over it now when i do answer they are kinda suprised. ;)lol!
  • yeah I did, now I'm lucky enough to say "you called while I was in class" so they don't think I'm ignoring them. lol for them it must seem I'm in class 24/7
  • I do not have a cell phone, I do not have an answer phone, and I only answer my land line when I am in the mood to talk. I will sit next to it and let it ring. I am honest with people, I will tell them yes I did hear it ring and no I didn't answer because I didn't want to talk, if they are mad that is their problem not mine. I do not drive so if it is an emergency i am the last person to call anyway.
  • No, my friends and family know if they call and I don't answer it's because I have something going. They also know that I will call them back as soon as I can.
  • Yah. I just hang up on them.
  • I only have one sister that will complain and I tell her this a lot, "If and when you decide to pay my phone bill then you can dictate when I answer the phone." She laughs it off but she got my message.
  • lol ~ yeah i do. I just laugh and tell them to get over it :)
  • Yeh, my dad does it all the time and everytime he does i just tell him to get over it.
  • This use to be a problem for my wife and i. When we first switched from home phone to cellphones, she would never carry her cellphone with her. We had our discussions. I finally convinced my wife that the purpose of a cellphone was mobility. it will only work if its carried with you. Its like your third arm. Now, everything is cool and she is really into cellphones.
  • Welllllll...if you'd ever answer the phone, you could hang up on them! ;)
