How can I write an essay "stating my financial need" without just being like "I don't have any money for college, and I really need some!"?

Let them know how you plan to be an asset to the college community and what your future plans are that would justify them giving you the money.

I require financial assistance because I wish to be a ....... some day. This requires a ## year course through *name of college. I require $$$ dollars for the first year. This will include the cost of course, books and living expenses. I will require living expenses because I must move in order to attend school. I have not been able to save money due to my diligent commitment to education and extracurricular activities such as "...". There are no members of my family that can provide financial assistance due to their financial situations. I have excelled in my studies and have a grade point average of "...". I will continue to be committed to my education so that one day I can become a productive member of society. Or something like that.
