You may be showing so much tact that others may not understand what you are attempting to say. I have heard it refered to as mitagated speech which of course can be taken to the other extreme.

It takes some spontaneity away for sure. If one always is weighing ones word choices before saying anything, then everything ends up premeditated, stilted and stiff. :)
