  • How do you mean? Like, you've already told them about something and they have to congratulate you again? It doesn't bother me.
  • I do. If my friend wants to say Congrats that's one thing, if someone is just point farming it's another. +5
  • It would annoy me if someone I don't know or someone I rarely talk to asked one for me (unless, it's someone on my friends list); but, it really doesn't affect me if they do that for others (although I'm sure the person wouldn't appreciate it too much though they're not likely to display their displeasure on here).
  • No. Frankly I don't even notice such things. When I see a congrats questions, I just congratulate the person. Then I move on to other questions.
  • I would prefer that my friend ask the question, to me it is strange if you arent.
  • I'm all for congratulating people. It's a nice thing and usually well deserved. But the questions start to lose their meaning when they're constantly asked by the same account sitters, those who eagle eye the leaderboard waiting for people to level up. Hardly the same level of sincerity to their questions as those from someone who is actually a friend of the person or at least interacts with them on a semi-regular basis. What's really sad is that these vultures usually make it impossible for anyone who is truly a friend of the person to have a chance to congratulate them. That may not be worth much to some but it has great value to me as I have learned, particularly just recently, how much Answerbag friends truly mean.
  • No..truth be told I just want to congratulate the person..don't care who asked the question..I don't get irritated that easily :)
  • Oh, yeah. I can't stand that. It really gets under my skin. In fact, even thinking about it is starting to make my blood pressure rise a little.
  • no not at all.i can be happy for someone i dont know.
  • Bubbleheads know they can get points for asking a question. Plus, they're bubbleheads.
  • Yes, doesn't make sense. The person being congratulated should have the option to flag it as nonsense :-)
  • I always congratulate people because everyone needs some positives on occasion. I usually know who they are from previous questions or answers. I don't know who knows whom on AB so if Cat of the Wind asks a congratulations for Icy Hot and she has no idea who Cat of the Wind even is, I really don't know that. I just congratulate Icy Hot. Now when I find out about this, I may a bit put out but it doesn't lessen my congratulations to Icy Hot. There were due and it's not her fault it happened that way.
  • I think it is rather weird when people claim to be a very good friend and they do not even know if the person is male or female. That is not a genuine congratulations of a friend.
  • Not really. Never even thought of it before.
  • How do you know that? I don't know who all my friends interact with on AB..AB is very big place. If your question pertains to "point farmers" tracking various strangers so they can ask a question about someone they don't know just to garner points, well, I'm not a fan of point farmers. Congratulatory questions never annoy me. If I know the person asking the question, I will always answer to support him/her, even if I don't know the person in question. Similarly, if I know the person who is the subject of the question, I always answer even if I don't know the asker of said question. If I know neither one, I don't answer the question. Happy Sunday FI! :)
  • Yesh :) Freedom I haven't seen you in forever!
  • not really...i don't ever notice that lol...
  • Yes, it seems like a points grab when someone jumps so quick to ask those questions and they don't even know that person well.
  • Meh, doesn't really bother me.
