5 rooms: bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, TV room, guest room. This is California. If there's a quake, you have about a minute to contact out of state people to give them your condition before the phones go out. Cell towers are much more likely to go than land lines, so I don't count on cells for anything except away-from-home emergencies. Those who have dumped the land lines will eventually understand why I've kept mine. Also, the sound quality is much better on a land line.

All the rooms.

I've got a phone in the living room but I can also set one up in the bedroom but removed that one since I don't want to have it ringing up there anymore.

in the kitchen old style with cord, the handset does not get lost.

I have VOIP, haven't used a fixed landline in years and tend to have it in the living room, though as it's cordless it travels around the house at times.
-
Kitchen, far away from the bedroom

I haven't had a landline in...hmm...8 years now. The only reason I did have one was for internet, before satellite connection was available(at a reasonable cost, that is.)

none. i have a cell-phone next to my bed, it doubles as my alarm clock. so i want to throw it twice as hard against the wall when i wake up from a call and have to wake up again because of the alarm. lol.

i dont have a land line. they are obsolete. if you have a cell phone there is no reason to pay 30+ bucks a month for a land line

One in the MBR, MBR bath, BR#2, den, kitchen and garage. - Yet another irony in my life as I dislike telephones! ;-)

We have one in the living room, one in the kitchen, one in my computer room, one in the dining room, one in the master bedroom, then we have two cordless phones that we can use anywhere in our home. We only have one cell phone we take with us when we are out in the car. The cell service does not even pick up a signal inside, we have to go out on the front porch, or on the patio, just to make a call.
