Ryland Steen Drummer for Reel Big Fish

Lars Ulrich. Edit: If you don't want my opinion, don't ask for it. If you don't agree with me, fine. If you rated me down because you don't agree, you are a coward.

Ginger Baker of Cream Sunshine of your Love, White Room, etc. Ginger Baker was born Peter Edward Baker in Lewisham, SouthLondon on 19 August 1939. As a teen, he trained and competed as a racing cyclist, developing strong leg muscles which later contributed to his skill on the double bass drums. Ginger had always planned on becoming a professional cyclist, until he bought his first drum kit at the age of 15. Baker was keenly interested in modern art and jazz, a rebellious beatnik with an eccentric appearance and artistic flair. Later, he would become interested in sculpture, painting, rally driving and polo. It was his wide range of interests which led Ginger to take up the trumpet in the local Air Training Corp band. Watching the drummer gave Ginger the idea of playing drums himself. Ginger recalls his first experience on drums: "I had been into drums from a listening point of view for quite a time. I used to bang on the table with knives and forks and drive everybody mad. I used to get the kids at school dancing by banging rhythms on the school desk! They kept on at me to sit in with this band. The band wasn't very keen, but in the end I sat in and played the bollocks off their drummer. And that was the first time I'd sat on a kit. I heard one of the band turn round and say: 'Christ, we've got a drummer' and I thought, 'Hello, this is something I can do'." http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Ginger_Baker.html

My personal choice would have to be Mitch Mitchell of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Anyone that could keep up with Hendrix when he was on a tear, had to be a master. Mitchell fused together the jazz and rock styles of his day and brought drums to the forefront. Before this, drums were always in the background and worked primarily with the bass line. He pioneered the drumming style that has become a staple of rock music. today.

Tommy Lee, John Bonham, or Travis Barker.------all amazing.
-
neil peart..hes badass and will still be the best for a long time.
-
No one even gave an honorable mention to Keith Moon (at time of my post). You should all be ashamed. For anyone familiar with drumming, you know what I'm talking about. After I heard for the first time someone claim Neil Peart was The Greatest, I always paid extra attention to Rush, but I never picked up on the supposedly-great drumming except occasionally. So unless he's WAY more technical in Rush's more obscure songs as compared to the radio songs, I remain unconvinced. BTW, Baker and Bonham are obvious contenders.
-
John Bonham, Keith Moon, Neil Peart, and Tommy Lee. i think Neil Peart is the best although they are pretty damn good
-
GINGER BAKER from CREAM Loads of greats but Ginger was the best
-
Douglas K. Berry From (Sic)monic!
-
It was Keith Moon. Next question.
-
I would say Keith Moon but that's too obvious so I'm gonna say the guy from Linkin Park.
-
Gene Krupa. Look him up. the guy was fantastic.
-
Mitch Mitchal?
-
Bonzo Bonham was the best all round drummer. Ringo star had the best meter(you could set a metronome by him) and charlie watts is just plain solid. As far as jazz goes it would have to be Kruppa.
-
Bonzo, Keith Moon, Neil Pert, Ringo Starr. John Dolmayan (SoaD) is pretty wicked.

-
Bonzo Bonham for sure!
-
Neil Peart, no question.
-
John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, easily, no one else is close. When he died, Rolling Stone Magazine said that the band knew better than to even think about carrying on without him.
-
Cozy Powell
-
The one off the Muppetts
-
Neil Peart (Rush): Technically immaculate, Original, Revolutionary.
-

Assaf Seewi, close seconds Thomas Lang and Buddy Rich. i've never seen anyone play the drums like assaf seewi. he isn't very well known.
-
Terry Bozzio, Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Igor Cavalera, need I go on?
-
Although Bonzo brought a lot of character and style to Led Zeppelin, he was just not as talented as many other drummers. The best rock drummer (coming from a talanted point of view) is Neil Peart. Best drummer ever? I go with Buddy Rich.
-

Gene Krupa Buddy Rich Louis Bellson Each great for the type of music and time period they played.
-
Travis Barker.
-
Keith Moon, Lars Ulrich, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich
-
I would have to agree with Johnny Carson on this one,Buddy Rich. 2nd, Ringo Starr,(the most underrated drummer of the 20th century!) A great drummer isn't one who can go fast and have power, but one who can fit the zing to the message in the music. Most rock drummers haven't a clue!
-
Buddy Rich or Bonham.
-
If you have to pick it has to be Buddy Rich. Many of the guys mentioned above said so as well including Keith Moon, Gene Krupa, Carl Palmer, Neil Pert and Louis Bellson. I have seen many, many drummers including everyone one this page except for Ringo Starr and John Dolmayan, live, and I never saw anyone like Buddy Rich.
-
Keith Moon all the way. Neil Peart, Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham and Ringo Starr are good.

The best drummer of all time is Buddy Rich. There will never be another like him and ask any drummer worth their salt and they'll tell you the same thing. I know he's not a rock drummer, but he's still the best drummer of all time-- Next.

niel pert from rush...or joey jordison from slipknot
-
I can't believe no one mentioned Danny Carey. He is by far the most creative drummer of all time. His timing is so crazy good.
-
The not so famous "Tony Royster Jr." if you don't believe it check all the drums solo out there... see and compare the speed, musical score, dynamics and impact... plus the level of skills during childhood is simply incomparable...
-

TRY MIKE PORTNOY! Recently added to the drummers hall of fame and is the youngest to ever be. He is also the only metal drummer ever added.
