  • I would say you are entitled to your own opinion... past that I wouldn't really say anything..
  • I think so. Just like people who pretend they are vampires are silly.
  • Just about all religions have a "silly" factor, if you think about it. As a person who has practiced Wicca and a person who does practice Christianity (Catholic) I can tell you that what we think it silly is often just different from what we are used to doing. As the previous poster said though, you are entitled to your own opinion.
  • That's your opinion. I don't think much of it either, really - but asking a question just to try and provoke a negative reaction can be classed as trolling, so be careful.
  • Well the ex was one and lied about it she was into the dark side and had brought negative energy to her house, later she was involved in a plot to have me outted. Anyway she is still single everyone she has dated or married is dead or went to prison or pysch ward me being no exception. Anyway she was narassitic "spelling" and she was very evil she was serving the fallen or the great evil or satan. All an all I am lucky to be here but luckily I was/am covered with the blood of the lamb. All this started with the Katrina storm.
  • I would say I'm glad you are free to say what you think. Many are not. Religious freedom is highly underrated. I don't believe most people take what you or I or anyone but themselves think very seriously. I'm sure there is no shortage of Wiccans that think we are silly. C'est la vie.
  • I would say "That's entirely your right to have such an opinion and observation, I agree, it seems silly to me as well, but no more silly than religion in general, mysticism, spiritualism or any other form of practice."
  • I would say that there are many people who become "Wiccan" without really knowing what it is or because it's trendy and they may seem silly, BUT long time Wiccans are as serious about their religion as anyone else.
  • Id say you obviously have no education on it. And paganisms makes a hell of a lot more sense than Christainty.
  • I don't know if you practice any sort of faith yourself, so perhaps this doesn't apply to you. But whenever I hear somebody refer to a religious practice different from their own as something odd/silly/superstitious etc..., Im always reminded of a Ancient History professor I once had. He said he always thought it was interesting how often people of faith consider all other forms of religious practice superstitious or ridiculous whether in the past or present, but for some reason, their own faith was perfectly logical and reasonable.
  • Know the difference between Wiccans and Jehovah's Witnesses? Three watchtowers.
  • I'm not a Wiccan. I'm a Christian. Nonetheless, since your asked, I'd tell you to mind your own damn business...and throw in a big AMEN!
  • I will tell you I have no idea what wiccans are!
  • I'm not too sure about wiccans, but you really need to do something about that studder.
  • Lol that's a bit deep
  • I think 'silly' is a perfectly reasonable word to describe them.
  • ..id say thats bull..cause at least what we look up to is real and can be seen as opposed to looking up to something thats written about and even imagined
  • I would say that they think I am rather silly, and that I think they are silly only in the sense that they are tampering with things they ought not to and don't fully understand.
  • I'd agree, and then explain why it is true.
  • Depends on the type. The act of ritual may seem silly to some--especially those Wiccans that use faerie magick or such flowery poems to contact their magicks. I stay away from that type of Wicca. If you were to watch someone cast who was not into the flowery aspects, you may actually be awed or frightened as to the power they can invoke. Then again--I don't really call myself a Wiccan--as it instead invokes those comical aspects of the religion. In truth, it's some of the most beautiful and involved rituals when the person puts their energies into it in the less cliche manner.
  • Wiccans are more interesting than most mainstream religious people are. At least they are not out trying to convert people. To hell with the converters.
  • I used to follow the wiccan religion. It's very interesting, I was at peace and was really in touch with nature. I no longer follow the religion but I respect anyone who does.
  • You're entitled to your opinion. I personally think a lot of things are silly: - people who dress up and go to clubs and try to hook up and impress each other, thinking this is a glamourous lifestyle - Wrestling (the fake kind that is so popular and loud) - watching TV shows like South Park No matter what in life we do or how we live, someone out there thinks it's silly.
  • everybody has their own opinion. it wouldn't bother me at all.
  • Well, my girl's pretty silly at times. But I don't think it can be said of all Wiccans at all times. It's a little silly for you to generalize like that and to trivialize thousands, if not millions of people.
  • I would call you a fool for not believing in magic. ;D
  • I'd probably say, "Why are you singling out Wiccans? Why not Jehovah's Witnesses? Why not Mormons, Catholics, and Jews? Why not Buddhists, Zoroastrians, and Muslims? What's less crazy about these other religions than Wicca?"
  • Is it silly to worship as you please? If someone worships God, would you say they are silly for following the ramblings of a hundred different men who all told stories to their families before writing and books were created and then those families passed those stories into written form and proclaimed they were the words of "God"? We all have our own image(s) of Deity. Why is yours correct and mine is not? Catholics revere the Virgin Mary as a goddess of sorts. Is that wrong too? If God created man in his own image, how did he obtain the image of a woman? Wiccans/Pagans are not wrong, we just look at things differently. The sooner we all can understand and accept each others beliefs, the better the world will be for it.
  • I wouldn't really say much, but I'd have a bunch of books to recommend to you, if you wanted to learn more about us. I think most "silly" things are just things we don't know enough about. There are even things in Wicca that I now consider to be silly and I'm a Wiccan. But I know, in reality, I don't really think they're silly, I just haven't read the book yet. Also, if you have any questions or anything to make it less silly, feel free to ask. That aside, to all you "Wiccan" Christian bashers that already posted, I recommend you do some more reading as well - both about Christianity and about your own religion. Wicca does not look down on any other religion. Christianity is a very good religion full of very good people that actively live a very good message. If you have had difficulty with Christians in the past, I am sorry, but it does not give you the right to turn around and do the same to them. Everyone is made differently and thus needs to find their own different path to enlightenment (this is why Wiccans do not proselytize). The way it was best explained to me is that there is a beautiful circular meadow - whether that meadow is heaven, the summerlands (Wiccan afterlands), nirvana, sheol, enlightenment, etc., it doesn't matter - and that meadow is surrounded by a forest for miles and miles and miles all the way around. In that forest there are millions of different paths making their way to the meadow and there is no one path for two people - everyone has to find the path that's right for them and just because you think your path is golden does not give you the right to spit on the paths that cross your own at various times. If you find that you continually run into people that make fun of your religion or put you down because of it, but you continue to do the same to them or others of the same religion - that, my friends, is called the Law of Threefold Return: look it up. Hope you all had a great holiday and have a better new year. Blessed Be.
  • I would agree and disagree- I don't know how you define silly and what you define as a Wiccian. Most Wiccians do not know the correct way to practice: check this out: http://wiccateacher.synthasite.com/
  • I'd say I think they're silly too. But so are a lot of people. I don't have time to worry about all the silly people in the world. I'm only one robot, after all.
  • I often wonder if Wicca isn't mere social shock value as modern Lavey Satanism is. I don't want to think so, it seems to have a great concept, despite that I do not believe in anything, whether this is god or a sentient natural force or whatever related deities. Brighid or...I forgot. I know it's based on something very serious, something which is even older than Christianity, but how many of them take this seriously, beyond the black sheep imperative? But, unfortunately, many Wiccans I've met are vicious and dismissing, and I fail to learn much from them. :/ I guess it's my behaviour too though, people don't like when you say that their spiritual path is bs so to speak, but I do wish I could learn more about it from THEM, rather than having to read. Lol. I do know that curative magic from many role playing games were based on Wicca though, so that's totally awesome. :)
  • I would say you are a close minded person begging for attention. I only say this because you asked a question in hopes to get attention or insults.. You're more than welcome to your own opinion about religion or anything else for that matter. . I think it's a lot worse for anyone following any religion to downgrade or talk bad about another person's religion.. to you what you practice is right.. to them what they practice is right. To each their own.
  • id say its rather silly to insult an entire group of people; do youo personally know every wiccan on earth.
  • i think everyone is entitled to believe in whatever they want. what's the point in everyone believing the same thing.. besides forming the largest cult ever created?
  • You are entitled to your opinion. Really, I don't mind.
  • "You're right, some of their beliefs are off-the-wall!!"
  • I would say that, you believe what you believe, and I believe what I believe.
  • i'd say whatever you religion you practice is silly. if your an atheist then i'd call you a silly atheist.
  • all religions are made up- wiccans do seem a little more silly than others - but the others ones seem worse over all cuase they take it so much more seriously- well thats how it appears to me.
  • Just a voice in the chorus, but I would say that they are no sillier than any those who practice any other religion.
  • You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, just like everyone else
  • I have great respect for Wicca philosophy. Most of my views match theirs. Its not that I plan to join the Wiccas. But I have positive vibes for them. Also I do have great respect for your right for your opinion that the Wiccans are silly.
  • They are no sillier than any other religion.
  • try to figure who You You is
  • Not any sillier than any other religion. I think they're all pretty silly myself.
  • Well, I am a bit silly, but I don't think that has much to do with my religion. Nothing like a nice blanket statement to make someone look like the fool.
  • My doctor is Wiccan. I bet she'd laugh all the way to the bank with her salary about how silly you though she was.
  • wiccans are not silly at all this comming from a wiccan it is a nature based religion i dont see how it is silly
  • I'd respond that everyone is silly. The error lies in thinking you aren't. We should be able to agree that, whatever gods there be, when they consider us, spend no small amount of time laughing at what we do ... when they aren't crying, that is.
  • I'd say of any faith, Wiccans are the least silly, you don't see them causing holy wars because of minute differences in their religions. There are many, many types of Pagan, and they all live together happily (this is coming from a Celtic Pagan who has Norse, Wiccan and Druid friends).
  • To be honest, Wicca isn't a "religion" in the conventional sense of the word. It's certainly not organised, as there is no Bible-like book, nor an official church in many places. There are temples in some towns, but very few know about them. It's a faith practiced by many, and is based on old values, beliefs and traditions. Wicca is very similar to Celtic paganism, which I guess would have been brought over with immigration, as the original American Pagans would have been Native Americans.
  • I'm not Wiccan - but I am Pagan, and having been exposed to thousands of Wiccans over the years, I can say, without a doubt, that MANY Wiccans are silly. As it happens, there are also silly Catholics, and silly Protestants, and silly _____ (fill in the blank). People are often silly, stupid, and/or any other adjective you care to name, so it shouldn't be a surprise that there are people in group X that are also X. As a friend put it, "Just because they belong to the same group you do doesn't mean they're not idiots or assholes."
  • How do you define "silly?"
  • Dont let them hear you say that. You might get turned into a frog.
  • You have a right to voice your opinion. :o) Have a good night!
  • I agree that they are silly, but only insofar as everyone who believes in the supernatural is silly, members of traditional major religions included. Wicca makes no more or less sense that Islam, Christianity, or Hinduism.
  • We're all silly in our own right The minute I point out what I might find silly about you someone will do worse to me so I'd rather just smile and let you be silly along with the rest of us
  • I'd say that some Wiccans *are* silly. I am Wiccan, and some of my contemporaries embarrass me.
  • To be honest, I've heard people call us far worse.
  • No sillier than any other religion out there, and one hell of a lot less evil than most.
  • I would say that anyone who insults another's faith knows nothing of that faith. When someone labels me, it says more about that person and their narrow mindset and says absolutely nothing about me. And yes, I have studied Wicca. And Hellenistic polytheism, and Judaism, and a lot of other faiths. Somehow, despite being raised Catholic, I wound up being tolerant and open to ideas different from my own. So when I hear someone insult another for a ridiculous reason like a different religion, or colour of skin, or choice of diet, it makes me upset and want to defend those being persecuted. Gods know we don't need another Inquisition!
  • witch & wicca means wise , witchcraft is the craft of the wise . so you are saying "smart is stupid " . ....and you call us silly ? - i would then add that the empty can rattles the most.
  • Mostly I would say that I agree. Vicca appear to me to be mainly a result of lots of people being repulsed by Christianity. So they have dug up a predecessor religion of Christianity and tries to recreate it. Have you noticed that Vicca almost exclusively live as a religion in the US. In the EU (where it supposedly arose) very few take it any kind of serious. It would seems US Christians are generally more repulsive that EU Christians ;-)) regards JakobA
  • I would say you probably don't know what you're talking about and also remind you it's dangerous to claim all boobles are beebles
  • I would say their decieved. You are correct.
  • No more or less silly than, say, Roman Catholicism?
  • I think most Wiccans don't understand that Wicca was made up by Gerald Gardner in the mid 20th century. I don't think they are silly just misinformed.
  • Id say...what the heck's a Wiccan?
  • I would ask you what exactly and how much do you know about it.
  • That for the most part, you're quite right. +5
  • I would say that you need to get to know me before you call me silly.
  • i'd say well what religion is better? i sure as heck won't agree with you of course. i believe Mind is wonderful. i just keep searching for things and i'm ok knowing an answer is there.
  • You know that opinions are like a certain orifice, right? Everybody has one?
  • I think it is silly to generalize like that
  • would't give a f**k
  • Cool, that's your opinion and your welcome to it. I think all "religions" are silly - but that's my opinion and I hope you except it in the same spirit that I excepted your opinion.
  • I'd say if you're going to insult someone use proper grammer and spelling! Just messing with you. :)
