Lying can also give anyone a guilt trip that can lead to these emotions. Start telling the truth and/or come clean. That's a start. Karma from lying can return like a boomerang. "What goes around comes around." Accusing another of something vile without basis in fact (further self-incriminating falsehood by one's unwillingness to provide a source link) is something that can come back to haunt the liar in ways they'd never expect. To lie just to keep one's own hatred of another going can eventually bite the liar even harder due obviously to the nature of the situation.
