Good question. The answer is you have to have the strength to step up to him and say no. Our minds are constantly at war with Satan over good and evil. It also helps to ask God for assistance.

Resist the temptation to sin, dont' act out on the temptation (its okay to be tempted, just don't have to act on it) pray to God for help!!

As Christians, we need to be aware of the reality of the presence of evil. Jesus provided the answer when he was on the mountain after John baptized him. He resisted all that Satan and his world could offer him. It is written, worship only the Father , his Father in heaven. Satan fleed.

When Jesus was tempted, for example in the desert, He quoted Scripture. If I'm tempted a Bible verse can go through my mind like... 1 Corinthians 10:13 - "No temptation has taken you except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out in order for you to be able to endure it." And I pray for God to keep me and help me. It's also very important to have a tight relationship with God to withstand temptations.

The same way I resist the tooth fairy, or the Super Hamster. There's nothing to resist. Just try to do the right thing by people. Don't blame some fictional bullcrap devil for people being evil. word to your mother.

You can't do it alone. If we could then we wouldn't need God. Our flesh doesn't deserve salvation anymore the day after we are saved than our darkest day. We can't do it alone, meaning without God or without each other. My suggestion would be to read (and apply) the first part of the verse you quoted. "Submit yourselves, then to God..." And I would read (and apply) the verse after. "Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded." Hope this helps! God Bless!!

Dont give in to the temptation he is dangling in front of you, speak temptation out of you in the name of Jesus. Remember Jesus' name is above all names, and as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ you have authority. 1 JOHN 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he (Jesus)that is in you, than he(satan) who is in the world.

Another thought, read the 10 commandments everyday...should give you the ways of the Lord everyday and thereby you wont get tempted no more. The devil will stop tempting you when he notices that your faith is strong. Hope it helps

I think it might be easier to understand with another verse. I can't remember which one it was but it was in Psalms. It stated that 'to fear God is to hate evil' which I felt is how we can begin to fear God, and resist the devil. If we base all our thoughts and actions out of love, we cannot be sinning with those thoughts or actions, therefore we're honoring the Father and not sinning. LOVE is the answer =)

one way to resist the devil is by opposing his independent attitude which he promotes in human beings. since the beginning he told eve that she could be independent from God. sadly she believed him and disobeyed the order to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and bad. since then the human tendency is to think that we do not need God. this has been one of the biggest mistakes we can make. satan has been promoting this independent attitude since then, look at the world and where this way of thinking has gotten us!

it took Jesus 40 days to prepare HIS resistence to the temptations the devil threw at HIM...HE was even hungry and weary but HE did, showing it will be no easier for us...we resist satan or follow him in our every action of right and wrong EVERYDAY..it is very easy to fall off the resistence path..tell a lie, and it begins to get easier and easier,til u've actually succumbed to satan..and he's laughing at us all.every single time we let bad in..thats his job and he succeeds easier and easier these days..we seem to be raising our kids even to be free to do as they wish, rebel.Satan was the utimate REBELLER and LIAR:)justme
