I can, but it depends on my opponents demeanor a lot more than mine.

I've seen several and I have the utmost respect for them. It's one of the most contentious topics here, or anywhere for that matter, which is why I choose to stay away from it completely.

Sure, any person who is truely religious, will have respect for others and their beliefs. I am a baptist and my best friend is atheist, we talk about it all the time and never say the other is wrong.

I can discuss it all day as long as you don't judge me and tell me I am going to Hell..discuss away. my best friend is a Christian and in full time ministry. I talk to him about God all the time and listen to him talk back.. I have no problem with it. I grew up as a Christian in church for 35 years just don't judge and criticize.. I will talk all day
-
Yes there are some. I usually just ask people about their views concerning that without being confrontational about it. I have been involved in about two contentious discussions about it but that was with two different users once each.

Christians get very defensive because when you point out religions flaws, deep inside they don't believe their own excuses. The questions make them doubt themselves, and it causes them to fight even harder to prove what they are saying. Almost like they are trying to prove it to the atheist AND to themselves at the same time.

I am guilty of not being courteous sometimes but I actually learnt today from my book that I must respect Jewish and Christian religions at all times. I will be doing this from now on.
