  • What is said on tv is true, dont mock the babysitter :)
  • I think we're all brainwashed by everything that happens. More specifically, we're conditioned, and we downplay and underestimate the depth and scope of our conditioning. Even the notion that there's "the media out there" and us poor innocents sitting here being manipulated by them is itself another conditioned concept: we've been trained to think in those terms. It's not my job to go around telling other people that they're brainwashed: it's my job to watch my OWN conditioning and challenge it.
  • The media always wants you to think one way to accomplish a goal, they are very biased. So yes most people are.
  • No way, the media has our best interests in mind :)
  • no of course not
  • no, but I think people are susceptible to parroting phrases like "brainwashed by the media". There is no one collective media entity to brainwash anyone. Fox News is just as much "the media" as MSNBC and yet they have very different biases. People tend to parrot the media outlets they already agree with. I have yet to see a liberal watch Hannity and suddenly want to name his firstborn Ronald Reagan and I have yet to see a conservative listen to NPR and suddenly slap a "Yes We Can" bumper sticker on her car.
  • YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
  • Absolutely. It is a cycle, I think. Corporations fuel the media who brainwash the public. Ka-ching!
  • Since day 1 the media has been doing just that.
  • Only if they allow themselves to be.
  • No. I think people used this brainwashing crap to make people doubt what they think.
  • NO! I read it yesterday!
  • SO true!!! I've heard people tell me some of the dumbest things and they totally believe it is true, because "so and so" on the news said it. They never actually check to see if it is true or not.
  • I believe there is such thing as the "Drive by Media". I wish there was a hybrid between Fox and MSNBC.
  • Absolutely! We are "manipulated" by big business (thru the media), and most times don't even know it's happening. It's kinda like the guy who came to my door the other day selling "security systems". He said my neighborhood had the highest incidents of burglary and theft in the city, over the last 6 months, and went on to tell me about 3 houses within eyesight that had been hit. Now, a lot of people may have believed it (since there actually was ONE burglary, about 5 houses up the street). But, when I went online to check which area was the worst, we were actually the BEST, which I already knew ... (my housing division butts up against one of the "big dollar" sub-divisions, and they get about triple the police presence that we get). Same with the media. Television, newspapers, radio, etc., start telling us what the "HOT" Christmas gift will be this Christmas, 2 or 3 months BEFORE Christmas. And, because it's on t.v., a lot of people actually run out (a.s.a.p.), to buy up that specific gift, which probably wouldn't have sold at all, without the media "pushing" it on us, ahead of time! Hmmmm ... a vicious circle, sometimes.
