  • I don't see how they can give you bad directions when you are the one plotting the starting and ending destinations yourself
  • I've never had a problem with MapQuest directions, but my dad has complained about them often.
  • Purpose? who knows but they suck. They are NEVER right. I think they have a contract with the oil companies to send you 1000 miles out of the way for profit cause they have really screwed me.. I won't use them anymore
  • I never use MapQuest. Try Google Maps. That might work better or get a GPS.
  • Yes! It's all a worldwide plot against you!
  • I hear a lot of complaints about mapquest, but I doubt they're giving bad directions on purpose. Nobody would use them and they'd go out of business
  • No, but a computer generated program can't think like a human being. Also, the site may not be updated to reflect changes in the highways where you plan to travel. Supplement your mapquest use with a real map. And if all else fails, stop at a gas station and ask for directions.
  • Absolutely!!
  • Google maps works best, at least in the US. MapQuest was one of the first, and it had some annoying results such as to proceed 0.1 miles on the "unnamed road" (highway entrance ramp), or "you will reach an intersection where there are 5 roads all called XXX" (in reality, just the point where a road divider ends).
  • Back when I was a substitute teacher and had to find schools I'd never been to I used to use MapQuest and it never let me down.
