I take great enjoyment in the use of language to express what is on my heart. I am probably to grateful to be proud about them because they were given to me.

I take GREAT pride in my linguistic skills, thank you very much! With one simple statement I can p*ss my wife off to no end. Statements like: ME: "Would you come out in the kitchen, please?" HER: "Make up your mind! Out or in, it can't be both!" ME: "Yes, it can. Come OUT of the dining room and IN to the kitchen." HER: "grrrrrr...." ME: "I'm going down to the crick." HER: "CREEK! A crick is something you get in your neck when you sleep wrong!" Me: "A creak is a noise made by a rusty hinge." HER: "grrrrrr..." ME: "I put the picture over the mantle." (Picture mispronounced as "pitcher") SISTER-IN-LAW: "That's PICTURE, not PITCHER! 'P-I-C-T-U-R-E!" ME: "But it's a picture of a pitcher!" SISTER-IN-LAW: "grrrrr..." WIFE'S COUSIN: "The Southern dialect spoken in South Carolina is actually closest to the Queen's English." ME: "Actually, the dialect closest to the Queen's English is somewhere in the mountains of West Virginia. Besides, I can't remember the Queen ever having said anything like 'Y'all come back now, hear?'" WIFE'S COUSIN: "grrrr..."
