  • You kidding me? The trauma associated with Santa Clause costs the US billions of dollars in therapy.
  • Come on, it's New Year's Eve Can you submit Christmas questions in 11 months?
  • Santa's not real? Holy Crap! My life is ruined!
  • umm, didn't we have these questions around a week ago, why are going in circles! children play pretend and make believe. we encourage their imagination, it is healthy, it is magical! i love that magic and seeing my kids faces! it didn't traumatise me, i can't even remember finding out, i just grew out of it, but just loved the idea of it every year. stop finding faults in santa, kids are kids, it's better they believe and play, then sit in front of a tv or computer!
  • (This is a good question. I'm sorry you got raided. I tried to get you back up there.) Tradition has us do this, even those of us who would never willingly "lie" to our children do this. I think it is such a clever trick it is hard not to! We do it at first, because our parents did it and theirs, and theirs. But when you see the look on a kid's face.... It is EXTRAORDINARY. You do it THEN because it's priceless. It is a a self-less gift. Because, remember, you have to toil to save and buy the right present, yet your kid things the fat guy brought it! Lol.
  • This question has been asked. And by your phrasing, you seem to have an agenda you wish to espouse. You are too late to proselytize this one. MC & HNY BTW- It is not lying, it is "spinning" the truth of an abstract concept into a tangible format that kid's can grasp. Have some fun!
  • No, I'm sorry my mother never told me about the Faux Santa Claus... She told me about St. Nick.. the Turkish/Greek Santa.... I dont think i missed out, I think its kinda silly to lie to your kids for years.. My cousin is 11 and still believes in him and he gets picked on because of it.
  • cause they probably want them to have fun believing in it when theyre kids
  • Because no parent wants to scare their kids by telling them that there's some magic fat dude who lives with a bunch of midgets who keeps breaking into their house and creeping around at night, and no one does anything about it even though we know exactly what day he's coming. Every year we know and we do nothing. Why scare the kids?
