  • The bank can give you a lower payment. However, the only way to know if they will is to ask. Banks want to get paid. A person who is paying voluntarily is easier to collect from than a person who has had their car taken from them. There are many factors that the bank will consider, but most banks will work with you if what you are offering is reasonable.
  • Call the bank and ask but be sure you develop a plan soon enough to have time to sell the car if necessary.
