  • Yeah take the cat to a vet. Scabs and bleeding most likely means infection. The cause could range from fleas to mite to allergies and must be treated as well. Infection or even the potential of infection will require antibiotics. If this is a parasite problem now you have to have the parasites dealt with by a vet (special medications that will not kill the cat by being taken up through the open sores). Cortisone and antihistamine shot to stop the itch so the cat stops ripping off its own face. If this is an allergy, then the cat will need antihistamines (oh the joys of pilling cats). If its a fungal or other kind of skin infection, then you most likely will need another type of pill to dose the cat with to treat.
  • sometimes are furry pets are lacking something in their diets that causes them to itching skin. i would check her cat food. you want to have more meat in their diet than grains and you can always add canned tuna or salmon to their food. i've been hearing alot of ads about Dinovite and they have supplement for cats and dogs with itchy skin. have you heard about them?
  • Aaw, poor kitty. Make an account here: http://www.thecatsite.com/f/ They're a great bunch and will help. Much info is posted there. Someone's bound to know something. And by all means, take her to the vet now if you can! (If money's an issue, you can take an hour to try the forum fist, but..know that some things that happen to cats, if left even overnight OR a couple hours can kill them quicker than you'd expect (like for example. mine got constipated and in turn he couldnt pee. I didn't know it, but he was just five hours from death at that point. I got very lucky that a home remedy unblocked him in time. But it was those nice folks at the cat forum who told me what to do to his diet to stop this from happening again, and even how to get low cost vet help. ((ONE CAUTION: if you read threads at that site, some of it is really heart breaking (people go there when their loved one is dying, and it can be quite sad). So.. I don't want to over-alarm you, but whatever you're going to do, do it right away.
