  • Depends on your State, city and legal laws in that area. Each area has different laws. You should be able to go to find the documentation in some local libraries.
  • As previously mentioned, every state is different, but the rul of thumb is that you need to be served papers in person, or by registered mail in which you sign for it. Putting an eviction notice on the door means nothing, as one could say they never received it, so on and so forth. That being said, if you know you are being evicted, prepare for it anyway and save yourself a bundle of problems. Best of luck to you
  • Every state does vary on this, but most states DO NOT require personal service. In most states you may hand a notice in person, you may put it in a conspicuous area (e.g. it to the door or mailbox), or send it first class mail. The smart move is to send it so that you have proof of notice, but again that is usually not required. As for how long, this also depends on the state and why you are being evicted. If it is or non-payment, you usually have 3-5 days to pay up or be out.
