  • Islam did not exist until 600 years after Christ, so no.
  • I don't say this about a lot of questions, but this question is just stupid. Really.
  • jesus was jesus
  • duh.. no he was a Jedi..
  • Islam was around when Abraham was living and him and Ishamel built the Kabbh in Mecca. So Islam was around before Jesus. Thats what Abraham big fight with his father was about. Serving one God.
  • Is that your rebuttal? I am very much here. I like to state facts, cuts down on gibberish.
  • Islam came with Muhammad in the 6th century AD. Islam formed in Southern Arabia, far from the Holy Land of Israel. Jesus was Jewish. His name in Hebrew is Yah-shua= Yahweh (the God of Israel) saves. He went to synagogue and worshipped annually in the Temple in Jerusalem. Stop pushing Muslim propaganda and learn some history. I have had several discussions with Muslims on this site. Their belief is that everyone is born Muslim, then gets distracted from the truth. Ergo, Jesus must have been Muslim. They also believe that the Bible has been changed to erase the message of Islam (even though textual historians have proven that wrong), ergo Jews and Christians don't teach the truth. But that is Islam for you- if something contradicts Islam, it must have been changed. Forget history, forget literary study, culture. Islam is right. THey are wrong.
  • No. He is a Jew and a myth.
  • Jewish
  • No...he was NOT Muslim.
  • no,he was a christian!
  • Islam came around about 550 years after Jesus...or so the story goes.
  • Jesus was not Muslim & Muslims agree to that. Muslims & Islam were born with the Qur'an, which was revealed AFTER the Bible. Since there were no Muslims before Islam, Jesus was not a Muslim. He was, however, a prophet of Allah (God) who was sent with the Bible as was David with his Book! They were each representatives of their books until the book after was released, and it all ended with Islam which was the last book.
  • Christianity was founded around 100 CE. Islam was founded around 600 CE. Christianity is considerably older than Islam. Here's a timeline of the foundings of the major religions of the world. http://www.sacred-texts.com/time/origtime.htm Hinduism is probably the oldest of the major religions with Judaism running second.
  • Sure. And St Peter was a Catholic. I love these people who try to rewrite history to fit their agenda.
  • No He was not.
  • Of course he was a Muslim and a wonderful prophet.
  • No Jesus was Jewish.
  • He was Jewish. Islam did not come along until long after he died.
  • i love when people pose questions about christ's religion. at the time there was no such thing as christianity so jesus was jewish by religion but if christianity is defined by believing in jesus. so if he had low self- esteem and didnt believe in himself then he wasnt a Christian but if he did believe in himself then he was a christian
  • Of course not, he taught Christians to hate Muslims.
  • Islam was founded hundreds of years after Christianity, which wasn't in existance untill after Jesus had died. He was Jewish.
  • Well the definition of the word Muslim is the person who is surrendered to god... in that sense yes... Also it is beleived that the Laws of surrendering to God (Islam) have existed well... since Existnece... Mohammad announced those... that is why Muslisms are not called Mohammedans like christians are called wrt to a prophet or spiritual teacher they adhere to. Let me also add that Muslims accept Jesus as a prophet in the outmost sense of respect... in Muslim countries some people name their son's Jesus... I do not think they mean that as a slight to chirstian world... yes it is good to get a little info here and ther and no reason to chop the questionners head... peace
  • He wasn't a Cristian if that's what your getting at.
  • he was not andd all that matters is that he was a good man with good heart , hard to find such people now a days:)
  • he was jewish
  • No. The muslim heritage began with Sarah and Isaac in Genesis. Instead of Gods' promise to Sarah that she would have a child, Sarah and Isaac decided to get a child through a maidservant. They didn't want to wait any longer for the promise God had given them, so they did it their way. Ishmael was this child, which was not in the lineage that led up to Jesus. Read first chapter of Matthew as to what the lineage was.
  • Jesus (peace be upon him) is a Muslim ISLAM existed since the first man (Adam) walked on Earth. ISLAM is not a new religion but the final culmination and fulfillment of the same basic truth that ALLAH (God) revealed through all His prophets to every people. As there is only ONE GOD, there is only One Religion. Islam is the preserved pure religion of all prophets sent by ALLAH (GOD). Islam means the complete submission and obedience to Allah (God). Therefore, all prophets were indeed MUSLIMS because they were true submitters to the will of ALLAH, the Creator. "Truly, the religion with Allah (God) is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) did not differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever disbelieves in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, then surely, Allah is Swift in calling to account." [The Noble Quran 3:19] "And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers." [The Noble Quran 3:85] Jesus was a righteous man who surrendered himself to the One God - and thus he was a Muslim (or Mushlam). Indeed, Islam is the Only True Religion of God Almighty Subhanahau wa T'ala. Jesus using the word "Muslim" in Luke 6:40: Let us look at Luke 6:40 from my N.I.V. Bible "A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher." Let us look at what Jesus said in Luke 6:40 in the language of Aramaic translated into Hebrew as shown below: "Ein talmeed na'leh 'al rabbo; shekken kal adam she'MUSHLAM yihyeh k'rabbo." Taken from the Aramaic bible society. Note: Aramaic and Hebrew are read from right to left, which is apposite to English. Translation in English: "No student can be above his teacher, but everyone that is a MUSLIM, can be as his teacher." Important Note: The Hebrew word "Mushlam" comes from the root "Sh L M". "Shalom" which comes from the same root means "peace". The Arabic word "Muslim" comes from the root "S L M". "Salam" means "peace". "Salem" means "safe". Also taken from the Aramaic bible society. ========= ISLAM: The Religion of All Prophets (1) Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) was MUSLIM "Ibrahim (Abraham) was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim Hanifa (Islamic Monotheism - to worship none but Allah Alone) and he was not of Al-Mushrikun (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, idolaters, polytheists, pagans, etc.)" [The Noble Quran 3:67] "And this (submission to Allah, Islam) was enjoined by Ibrahim (Abraham) upon his sons and by Ya'qub (Jacob)(saying), "O my sons! Allah has chosen for you the (true) religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islâm (as Muslims - Islamic Monotheism)." [The Noble Quran 2:132] (2) Prophet Joseph (peace be upon him) was MUSLIM Joseph said: "My Lord! You have indeed bestowed on me of the sovereignty, and taught me something of the interpretation of dreams - the (Only) Creator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Wali (Protector, Helper, Supporter, Guardian, God, Lord) in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a Muslim (the one submitting to Your Will), and join me with the righteous." [The Noble Quran 12:101] (3) Prophet Jacob and his sons were MUSLIMS "Or were you witnesses when death approached Ya'qub (Jacob)? When he said unto his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We shall worship your Ilah (God - Allah), the Ilah (God) of your fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), One Ilah (God), and to Him we submit (in Islam, Muslims)." [The Noble Quran 2:133] (4) Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) and his disciples were MUSLIMS "Then when 'Isa (Jesus) came to know of their disbelief, he said: "Who will be my helpers in Allah's Cause?" Al-Hawariun (the disciples) said: "We are the helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (i.e. we submit to Allah)." [The Noble Quran 3:52] "And when I (Allah) revealed to Al-Hawarieen (the disciples)(of 'Isa (Jesus)) to believe in Me and My Messenger, they said: "We believe. And bear witness that we are Muslims." [The Noble Quran 5:111]. =================================== For more evidences on why Jesus is a Muslim, visit this link http://invitationtotruth.wordpress.com/2007/12/14/jesus-is-a-muslim/ =================================== Finally, I want any Christian or Jew to answer the following simple question if he/she really knows the bible: What's the religion name of prophet Abraham and prophet Moses (peace be upon them) as mentioned in the Bible? ... What's the name of the religion name of Jesus (peace be upon him) as stated by him in the Bible? (No self opinions)
  • The mother of Jesus was Jewish and that makes him Jewish.
  • Jesus was a Jew at birth but he his eyes where opened and he oposed jewism and muslims and all other, cus there is only one god.
  • 1) According to Muslims, he was. Most non Muslims would not consider Jesus a Muslim, though. They would see Islam as started with the prophet Muhammad and Jesus as either God himself or as the founder of Christianity and as such, a Christian, or a Jew. 2) Here an explanation of the Islamic view: "In Islam, Jesus (Arabic: عيسى‎ `Īsā) is considered a messenger of God who had been sent to guide the Children of Israel (banÄ« isrā'Ä«l) with a new scripture, the InjÄ«l (gospel). The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be God's final revelation, states that Jesus was born to Mary (Arabic: Maryam) as the result of virginal conception, a miraculous event which occurred by the decree of God (Arabic: Allah). To aid him in his quest, Jesus was given the ability to perform miracles, all by the permission of God. According to Islamic texts, Jesus was neither killed nor crucified, but rather he was raised alive up to heaven. Islamic traditions narrate that he will return to Earth near the day of judgment to restore justice and defeat al-Masīḥ ad-Dajjāl (lit. "the false messiah", also known as the Antichrist). Like all prophets in Islam, Jesus is considered to have been a Muslim, as he preached for people to adopt the straight path in submission to God's will. Islam rejects that Jesus was God incarnate or the son of God, stating that he was an ordinary man who, like other prophets, had been divinely chosen to spread God's message. Islamic texts forbid the association of partners with God (shirk), emphasizing the notion of God's divine oneness (tawhÄ«d). Numerous titles are given to Jesus in the Qur'an, such as al-Masīḥ ("the messiah; the anointed one" i.e. by means of blessings), although it does not correspond with the meaning accrued in Christian belief. Jesus is seen in Islam as a precursor to Muhammad, and is believed by Muslims to have foretold the latter's coming." Source and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_Islam
  • That's like asking if Jesus was a Mormon. Only to the Mormons he was.
  • he was born jewish.
  • No Jesus was Jewish.
  • The Muslim religion didn't even start until around 400 AD. So, no he was not Muslim, he was Jewish.

  • from a particular point of view, yes jesus was muslim. people who do not speak arabic will always have a different point of view than arabs because their understanding of the word is different. for arabs, a muslim is one who submits to god's will. from this vantage point all of god's prophets/chosen: abraham, moses, lot, job, elijah, jesus, etc. are muslim. if you believe that jesus submitted to god's will, and dying on the cross would count for most christians, then jesus was absolutely a muslim. from both an arab perspective AND a muslim perspective, islam didn't start with muhammad. christians and jews who were on the righteous path, were already practicing islam. what muhammad did, who served as the "best example" of a muslim, was bring islam to the warring arab tribes. if, on the other hand, you don't think that jesus submitted to the will of god, then i guess you wouldn't consider him muslim
  • This question assumes Jesus was a real person. Other than approximately 3 contemporaries to Jesus' supposed time referring to "Christ" or "Christus," meaning "anointed one" and not to Jesus' actual name, nobody else mentions such an historic, controversial, and charismatic leader. What reason do I have to believe he was real, let alone Muslim? . The real question is "was Jesus real"? When someone can answer that with proof I'll start taking his name seriously. +3
  • Of course not, it is impossible to be something before it was invented. Jesus was a Jew.
