Parents called me all kinds of names that I wouldn't ever repeat, guess they were labels. Actually, parents called all of us names, you wouldn't even imagine that parents could say some of those things to their kids. I was first born, so I guess that's a label too. The youngest was called the "baby of the family" - but as far as other terms, none that I recollect.
-
Yes they did. And removing those Dymo labels really hurts, too! ;-)
-
Not really, Zack. My sisters and I fight over the black sheep title, and though they say they are black sheep, I am the only one with the background that deserves it. I earned the title. They didn't. :)
-
Just as the artist of the family.
-
failure, loser, stupid, "unwanted" (that's not a label).. and a lot more that I can't think of right now
-
yes, and then try to sell me at the flee market. It was gross. ;]
-
yes they do. we dont have contact anymore.:)
-
dance aholic child stuck with me all my life lol
-
Yes, they called me their "other daughter" after i came out of the closet to them, i hated it.
-
Yes, and labels are very dangerous. They can condemn a child to be less than they can be or put expectations that are too high on them. I was always told I was too smart to go into the fashion world or art world. I had too much going on to "basket weave" as my father put it. I am now grown, he has passed on, and I run my own small company designing dancewear, clothing, paintings and anything else I feel like making. But if I had been allowed to be me earlier, I may have had a clothing line instead of a BA degree that does nothing for me. But I got away easy. No deep scars as a friend has who was always told he would "never amount to nuthin'!" I believe children try to please their parents, and/or live up to what is expected.
-
yes they did and yes they do (that's probably why I moved out when I was 15....I still love them though!)
-
NO.. i think their confused to what the hell i am.. so they don't bother trying.
-
Well , my brothers did and all thought I was"Barfy Bonnie" I could not go on a car trip without throwing up. Now I am fine. Whew, thank God that was only then.
-
not my parents but my teachers did! I'd go into a class on the first day and the teacher would ask....are you related to ___________ and __________? I'd say yes they are my brotherss. They'd say "GREAT" and hated me because I had rowdy, trouble maker brothers!
-
There's only me and my sister. I was labeled the "odd" one, the "not as smart as her sister", the "blacksheep".
-
Nope, I'm shocked too :D
-
Yes-I was adopted when I was 11 days old, and they labeled me "our daughter." Labels can be good, sometimes.
-
Yes. I was always called the responsible child. A very heavy label to live up to.
-
Not me, but this reminds me of how my white trash sister-in-law always referred to her children as disabled... at least when it came to applying to get things for free. Their 'disability' was having varying degrees of ADHD, which was mainly caused by her bad parenting.
-
Yes, I believe it said, "Return to sender"
-
Oh, sure! My sister was the pretty smart popular talented one and I was... "The Unique One". Hahaha... kind of a nice way of putting it, I guess. My poor parents! :P
